Hi all,

im just wondering if anyone experienced this.
me and my partner want to try for a baby so I came off my contraception in 2022 knowing it would take a while for my body to come back to normal (depo provera for about 5/6 years)

last injection: October 2022
ran out : December 2022
period returned: January 2024 for 4 days then I had spotting 2 days later
nothing in February
period again for 4 days the first week of march
then on the 18th of March I got another period which lasted until June 15th (I’ve been given iron tablets etc now due to the amount of blood I’ve been loosing as it’s every single day!)
then a week after the 15th of June it came back and I’m currently on week 4/5 of a period again.

im in the wait list to see a gynaecologist which won’t be until November this year (was referred December 2023 as they thought I may have PCOS but that’s now been ruled out) and my doctor has said that my only option is to go on the pill but even she said it defeats the purpose of trying for a baby and she doesn’t know if going on the pill will sort my period out then when I come off it it may just start again like it has been!

has anyone every experienced this / have any advice? We were so excited when my period came back to start TTC journey but now I just feel at a loss!

Sorry to hear, this must be exhausting! Please do not go back on the pill!!! Even if you weren’t TTC it only masks the issue and doesn’t find out why. Have you tried those pills that can be prescribed that stop you from bleeding? I forgot what they’re called but I got prescribed them when I had an extremely heavy period for 3 weeks straight.
Definitely push to see a gyno, good luck!

Oh no I don’t know about these ones?! I’ve booked an appointment with my doctor next week as I’m now 5 weeks in on a period again after the one week off and it’s really getting me down so I’ll see if I can mention it to her! Thank you!
