Hello,
I came off the contraceptive pill last April (after being on it 14 years!) since then we have been ttc. My cycle length changes every month and I am yet to fall pregnant. I have had tests for pcos which all came back ‘normal’ just looking for some advice, anyone has similar or any recommendations please?
Thank you in advance x

What sort of cycle length variation? In numbers.

Blondie3030 · 17/07/2024 09:13

Within the last year I’ve had
44
36
51
33
30
69
21
39
currently on 41

Did you also have a scan (if not, suggest pushing for one)? And were you given your actual blood results or just told they were fine?

Blondie3030 · 17/07/2024 09:17

Yes internal and external scans
I do have a copy of the results

Do you track your LH levels to check if your body gears up for ovulation? And have you done a progesterone test around 7 days after a positive ovulation test?

I use the clear blue ovulation tests however not every month because it gets stressful! When I do the tests I often get the flashing face for around 10 days before getting the static one which again is not really ‘normal’ but I also appreciate everyone is different. No I haven’t had a progesterone test is that worth asking for one of them?

I would also love to follow this thread. I came off the pill about 18 months ago... periods have been very irregular since. My cycles have been all over the place...

Had an ultrasound, internal scan and all came back okay.. been told I had a tilted womb but apparently doesn't effect that much ((🤷‍♀️)) had a blood test and it came back fine other than that they said my testosterone levels were slightly higher than the usual but nothing to worry about.

We are trying a more laid back approach towards TTC so we don't stress ourselves out but it's very frustrating and disheartening now 😭😔

@Blondie3030 It's a good sign you get an LH surge, that means you probably are ovulating. But to be sure it might be worth also tracking your BBT and doing a progesterone test, yes. If your GP won't help with the latter you get get test kits online for about £40.

@anon1411 sorry to hear this! Sounds like we are going through something very similar and I totally get how you feel month in month out it’s awful isn’t it! Yes I’m trying to take a more laid back approach from this month.. keeping everything crossed for the both of us!

@anon1411 sorry me again, just wanted to send a little update. I spoke to the gynaecologist today who suggested getting my thyroid hormone level tested again so I’ve got that booked in. I’ve also read really good reviews on the my vitamin hormone balance vitamins so I’ve got them arriving tomorrow! Not sure if they will make a difference but wiling to try! I’ll keep you posted!

How are you getting on?
just a little update from me - I got my TSH levels back today and mine have increased which is good news! I’ve been taking the hormone balance vitamins just under 2 weeks so not sure if this has played a part or not but keeping everything crossed that this is the turning point for my irregular periods!
🙏
