Panicking - can clearblue weeks indicator be wrong?

Hi everyone, looking for some reassurance.

My first pregnancy ended in miscarriage at 12 weeks back in April.

I've been tracking my cycle and TTC since and OPKs showed I had my first ovulation post-MC around 1 June. I had a very light but long period about a week later. It took another 3+ weeks to get my next positive OPK.

Well fast forward 2 weeks, I took 2 early prediction pregnancy tests at 11 and 12 dpo, both showed a really strong positive. I took a weeks indicator today (13 dpo) and it showed 3+ weeks pregnant. I haven't really had any symptoms and I know my opk was positive 14 days ago so how could it possibly be over 3 weeks?? I'm panicking that this could either mean there is something wrong with the pregnancy, or that I actually got pregnant my previous cycle? (If so that's quite scary because I've been drinking some alcohol in June)

Hi didn’t want to read and run
Could you contact EPU to get an early scan to check the pregnancy?

Mrsttcno1 · 14/07/2024 22:19

I’d book an early scan just to get things checked over. The weeks indicator’s aren’t perfect anyway but they just measure HCG so it may be that you fell pregnant earlier than you think or there are other things that can cause HCG to rise faster such as twins, DS or a molar pregnancy. There’s no way of knowing without checks being done but I really wouldn’t worry too much just over one test x

Perhaps the long but light period last month was IB and you’re further along. As you had a MC (sorry to hear this by the way, that must have been really hard), EPU will see you for a scan. Give them a call today and go from there.

If you’re 4 dpi and you ovulated around 2 weeks after the start of your cycle you would be classed as 4 weeks. The date of pregnancy starts from the date you started your period so would 3 plus not be right?

@NoRoTrio annoyingly the weeks indicator counts from conception, rather than lmp, which is why a lot of countries including US has stopped selling them because of the date confusion. Therefore OP is at least 5 weeks pregnant from LMP as period is usually around 2 weeks before conception.

I was wondering that. Whether it's possible the "period" was IB and just lasted longer because there was some blood left from the MC as well. I'm praying for that but just super afraid that the hcg is so high because there's something wrong with the pregnancy, like a molar. Don't know if I can cope with something like that straight after the MC.
I've booked a Dr appointment tomorrow to get a blood test at least and ask them if they think its too early to do a scan.

@Nc1204 it sounds like the most plausible reason, especially if you had sex within the time frame before the bleed.
Good luck with the Drs, I would push for hcg test and then again 48 hours later. If it’s over 1500 then a scan can definitely be booked

Just in case anyone is following this thread - Went for a scan and, good news, am about 6 weeks pregnant. What I thought was my period must have been something else. I guess maybe my ovulation test this month gave a false positive because of the hcg in my system?

Lovely news congratulations , yes the LH must have detected the hcg
