The two week wait!!

Hi everyone,
I hope you’re all well 😊
I am 30 and have just started ttc this month (feels very surreal), and I’m currently 5 DPO. Very early days I know, but I’m driving myself mad in this two week wait. I keep imagining all sorts of symptoms one minute, and then feeling sure I’m not going to get pregnant this month the next. I weirdly feel quite alone as well. No one know one else knows we’ve started ttc so it’s a strange feeling (I usually share EVERYTHING with my lovely sister, so this is alien)… like I’m the only person in the world feeling like this.
Is there anyone else currently in the two week wait? I was hoping to feel a bit less alone haha!
Thanks so much 😊

Hi! I could have written this post myself when I started ttc when I was 30. I'm now 32 and ttc baby number 2! I felt exactly as you did. So weird not telling my closest best friends. I did actually end up telling 4 of them. This time feels so different- I'm really open about ttc this time and casually mention it in conversations with anyone close to me (or even not that close to me 😂). Good luck! When do you plan on testing? Ps I am also 5DPO and started a tread a few days ago called 'TWW'. There are a few of us in there at the same stage.

Thank you so much - it is so lovely to hear that I am not the only one feeling this way! I’ve decided that if/when (🤞) we get pregnant, I’ll tell those super close to me straight away. I dont think I’ll be able to keep it a secret from them for long!
I think it’s so good to be open about ttc! - I feel like that eases the anxiety a bit!
I haven’t decided about when to test quite yet - I think I might try with an early detection test at 9 or 10DPO..? Or is that too early? It’s all the unknown for me, so I don’t know, but I’m very impatient haha. What about you?
Ooh thank you - I’ll have a look at that thread. Thank you so much!

Everyone has different views on what to tell people and when. I personally was quite open and told friends and family immediately and even my manager at work. The first trimester can be tough and I felt really supported. I also knew that these were the people I'd want to know if I had a miscarriage, which thankfully didn't happen.

Most people (if pregnant) do get a very faint positive at 9DPO, but just don't count yourself out if you don't. 10DPO is even obviously that bit better. I'm going to test at 9DPO on Sunday. Partly it's because I'm impatient but I also don't really want to find out I'm pregnant (if I am) on a Monday morning and then have to go to work!

If you're going to test early just make sure you get a very sensitive test! First response early result is great but more expensive. People like Premom and easy@home for cheaper tests. When I was pregnant with my daughter I found out at 9DPO on an easy@home! I then used a first response to confirm (the line was much easier to see). So exciting!

You’re so right - I’ve been thinking the same - to tell those that I’d tell if I had a miscarriage (fingers crossed this never happens).

Ahh the wait is driving me mad! I’ve managed to keep busy in the week and now it’s the weekend and I’m home alone today, time is going so slow!

I am wishing you SO much luck for a positive test tomorrow 🤞

Thank you so much for all the tips and advice. I’ve managed to get some of the earlier, more sensitive tests. Fingers crossed 🤞 I still find it surreal adjusting to the feeling of trying to get pregnant instead of trying so hard to not get pregnant for so many years!

Hey @TheCornishGoodLife how are you getting on? I'm just getting started too for the first time and found your posts super relatable!

imy · 13/07/2024 14:23

Wishing you so much luck too @TheCornishGoodLife !! Let me know how you get on! I have covid unfortunately and I'm a bit worried because it can affect implantation. It isn't a useful thing to worry about I know, so trying not to think about it!

Hi! I'm 5dpo today, I'm 33 and ttc baby no2. My son is 23 months old now and it took 10 months to conceive him. This is cycle 2 and I tested using OPKs this month and I think we managed to DTD on the good days so fingers crossed.

I didn't tell anyone first time we were TTC but for our second a few of my friends and family members know. I usually like these things to be private or a surprise when it actually happens but this time around feels different for some reason and I'm quite happy for the support. I love this forum for talking to others about it though, I'm still in a FB group of ladies who I met on here and we were all due at the same time and that group has been a huge support! Hopefully we can all get that this time around as well!

Hey 😊 I’m good thank you!! I tested today and it was negative, but it’s early days still, so I’m trying to stay hopeful. But if this month it isn’t meant to be, I’ll try not to overthink. How are you getting on? How do you feel about it all? I hope you’re feeling okay 💛 For me I’m super excited, but also absolutely terrified and very anxious about it all. I’m trying not to overthink things, but it’s hard not to! And weirdly I have this weird intrusive thought that I’m too young to get pregnant. I know this is rubbish, but I think it is perhaps a hang up from being so terrified of getting pregnant for so many years 😂

It’s always such a personal thing with sharing - I never know what is the best thing to do, so I think I’ll just go with how I feel if/when we get that positive test (🤞). it’s so interesting that it feels different this time around 💛
Aww that is so, so lovely to have a fb support group of lovely ladies going through it together. It would be absolutely amazing to have that!! It is always so nice to know that you’re not alone with the things you’re going through!

Oh noo, poor you!!! I really hope you’re not feeling too unwell with it. Hopefully, it’s won’t affect anything 🤞 I have everything crossed for you!
