Help interpreting sperm analysis please

These were my husband's results from a private sperm analysis. I've never seen them presented in this format (percentiles). I'd be so grateful if anyone can offer some insight. Overall it's increased from 12th to 27th percentile since his last one and we've been told that although still very low, there's maybe a glimmer of a chance. Other than that, a bit in the dark. Background: 15 months into TTC second child. First was natural conception but took 3 years. Me: 37. Husband: 48. Time is running out... 😢

Ph - 21st percentile
Volume - 17th
Concentration- 19th
Morphology- 22nd
Motility - 26th
Count - 25th
Overall score- 27th

Thank you 😊

Did they not give you any actual sperm count or motility figures?

secondtimelucky87 · 05/07/2024 20:07

The transcript still hasn't been posted by the clinic (it was done privately) so they read these figures out over the phone. Hoping they arrive soon but yeah this is all we have for now frustratingly...

Oh I see,
I’m no sperm expert but I think once you get these it will make more sense. Then you can compare with averages and there’s research online you can search for.
roughly the percentiles mean say if you were in the 20th percentile, if they had 100 sperm results, 79 would be higher/better scoring and 19 lower/worse than yours.
my partner has very low count and motility much lower than your partners, and I’m also older. we have tried ivf but without success sadly. if that’s an a option for you I’d go for it.
though it’s all odds so if you lucky and get a good sperm and a good egg it’s worth trying (we are still trying naturally)
I wish you all the luck in the world!

Hey! We finally got more detail. Would be so grateful if you have any insight please? From the brief research I've done it all looks borderline but not horrendous considering age?? Still nothing though after 15 months so who knows. May well be something wrong with me so I'm hoping to get somewhere with GP when I have my follow up appt in a few weeks!

Volume was 1.6ml
Sperms count was between 40 and 42 million
Motility was 26% of spermatoza
Morphology was 23% of sperm showing as normally shaped
Ph was 7.3
