30 and TTC

Heyyy,

I'm new here and finally feel I'm at a point in my life where I'm ready to finally have a baby. This will be my first month TTC, and I started testing my ovulation yesterday. My peak is likely going to be in the next few days so I'm crossing my fingers!

Anyone else in their 30s TTC? I'm panicking I've left it too late and overthinking it slightly.

I was 30 when I started, I now have ds and I have just started ttc#2 at 33.

Hopefully you won’t have too long to wait for good news.

@laurenpops thankyou. Good luck with your ttc journey, hopefully it’s very short.

Tracking ovulation adds to eliminate confusion, then you know you have DTD within the fertile window each cycle.

I didnt track the last cycle because I had just come off the mini pill. We still tried but once my period arrived I realised we hadn’t even DTD during the fertile window due to illness. So I’m back to tracking again now, just to have a chance each cycle.

I'm hoping so too, but trying to not put pressure on myself too much. I decided to join MN today as I don't really have anyone around me in my personal life who are ttc so figured here would be perfect for support and advice. I do really like the tracking of ovulation, it's quite exciting seeing it get darker daily 😂

Really crossing my fingers for you💕 Who knew so much went into having a baby, it's like a science test!

This really gives me a lot of assurance. I'm so happy for you!

I think the media and people make you feel worried with the saying of 'when are you having babies! You're 30 now!!' And then you think.... shit yeah I am 30 😂

@laurenpops If it reassures you further, I live in London. I haven't met any first time mums who are younger than 29 when they gave birth.

Appreciate this is just the sub-section of society I see every day and there will be younger mums, but becoming a mum 30 plus is really very common!

Definitely not to late, had my 1st DD at 33 and 2nd DD last November at almost 37. Good luck OP x

Ahhh that's lovely! 🥰

I'm CD11 today, testing my ovulation around 7pm. Yesterday was low. Scanned it twice to be sure lol. All new to this so I'm hoping that it was a normal result at that stage.

I don't know anyone who had a baby before 30! Stop worrying. But do be prepared a year is normal, and a positive pregnancy test doesn't equal a baby. I'm 33 and 6 months pregnant, we started trying in Jan 2023, and had one Miscarriage at 11 weeks during that time.

triceratops18 · 05/07/2024 15:00

I just turned 30 in February and am currently 37 weeks pregnant. We were lucky enough to get pregnant in the first month of trying (despite me having PCOS). You'll never know until you start trying. Good luck!! Smile

Hey @laurenpops I'm similar!

Just started TTC for first time, early 30s. We did give it a go last month too, so technically in my second cycle trying now. Fertile window is around now 🤞 but feeling poorly which is bad timing! So things may get delayed.

Either way happy to keep eachother company 😊

@ano24 Hey!🩷 Aw I'm sorry you're not feeling well bless you. I hope you feel better soon. It's so nice to know someone's on the same journey as me at the same time! We definitely can keep each other company I would love that! I'm still slightly confused about my ovulation tests atm as I did it soon as I've got home from work and the tc ratio is lower than yesterday and not sure if that's normal or not...

@laurenpops what are you using to track, the easy@home strips?

How big was the difference? That can happen so don't worry too much, your readings can shift based on time of day, will depend on how diluted your pee is etc.

And I guess how long did you leave between this one and last test? Sometimes the peaks can be quite fast and you may miss them!

Mine is slowly rising, just done another and got a high reading but not quite peak yet. Hoping I make a miraculous recovery over next day or so, so that I can get on it 🙈

@ano24 yeah I'm using those! I just did another a few hours ago and same result. Weirdly too I went for a wee and I had the randomest discharge and it had blood in it so I'm now thinking my cycle is messed up for this month. It's so confusing! So I went from 0.41 to 0.22. But the 0.41 I rescanned it as I doubted it first as it said 0.31, then the rescan said 0.41. I also didn't start taking them instantly after my last period as my strips came late so that might be playing a factor too.

Yaaasss girl get on it 😂 I hope you feel better too!!! Fingers crossed for you xx

@laurenpops are you recently off the pill or similar? It's quite common for cycle to take a while to settle after that.

Or if you're already quite regular and that spotting came mid cycle, some people do get a slight ovulation bleed sometimes apparently. I noticed it for first time last cycle so did some googling. So could be that?

And thank you, honestly it's just like winter feeling all fluey and the torrential rain outside! Hello July 🫠

@ano24 no im not, but i did take the pill that stops your period in May when i went on holiday so i think that might have played a part in getting my cycle back to normal. I did google and saw that about ovulation bleed too!

Oh god yeah I know what you mean. I had it a few weeks ago! Madness in July we're getting colds like this!! X
