TTC after chemical

PlantEnthusiast · 02/07/2024 11:02

I’m currently TTC baby number 2. Unfortunately my first cycle ended in a chemical pregnancy at 4w+5d on Friday. It looks like the bleeding has almost stopped (CD5) and I’m feeling anxious about this cycle already. Just wondering if anyone has been through this and wouldn’t mind sharing their TTC journey after an early loss? Or if anyone else is going through the same and would like to chat.

Sorry you went through this, I’m currently having a miscarriage at 5+4. Had the dreaded call this morning that hcg has gone down to 1000 from 1200 three days ago and now started bleeding. I had the blood test because I was in a lot of pain Friday night but no bleeding at that point so concern was ectopic.
Its such an emotional rollercoaster but we’ll get there ❤️

Hi OP, I'm in exactly the same position as you - TTC #2, first cycle ended in a chemical which totally knocked me over and I am now on CD21 of the second cycle

No advice as I'm still in the thick of it apart from try be patient with your body, mine has taken a min to settle back down and pretty sure I still haven't ovulated this cycle yet

Lovelesslily · 02/07/2024 12:00

Hey I'm in the same position.
TTC #1 and chemical cycle 3 last month. Am now CD13 but body is doing some odd things - had all signs of ovulation on Saturday (CD10 so very early) and clear blue monitor had static smiley but easy@ home never got to high then it all stopped. So think I haven't ovulated but body tried to early? Usually am very regular so think it's just out of sorts with the hormones.

Am hoping for the rumoured increased fertility following chemical if my cycle sorts itself out soon! 🤞🤞

Hiya, I am currently 6 + 3 days pregnant with no 2.... Last cycle I had a chemical at 4 + 2 and conceived this one straight away. Feeling nervous about it but it's sticking for now so cautiously hopeful. If you feel ready to try again straight away it can happen straight after... But be kind to yourself and do what you feel comfortable with physically and emotionally xx

PlantEnthusiast · 02/07/2024 14:54

@T0r11210 so sorry to hear that. It’s an awful thing to go through so please be kind to yourself. Have the doctors offered you any kind of support or follow up? I hope your pain has subsided.

@watermelonsoda @Lovelesslily sorry you’re going through this too. My NC app is already predicting ovulation on CD23 which is 3 days behind last cycle. I suppose it makes sense that our bodies won’t be doing the usual thing just yet.

@LoulouM12 thank you for commenting. It’s good to hear that you fell pregnant again so quickly. Did you ovulate as normal? I can imagine the last few weeks have been a rollercoaster for you!

@PlantEnthusiast I did ovulate but later than usual... the cycle I had the chemical I ovulated on CD13 and the next cycle (one I'm currently pregnant from) it was CD16... I bled solidly for about 7 days, whereas my periods are usually about 5....

Yeh it's been a weird couple of months! Just waiting to get to an early scan next week...

PlantEnthusiast · 02/07/2024 18:17

My bleeding appears to be stopping today after starting Friday afternoon so I guess like 4 and a bit days which is similar to my periods. I haven’t had many periods in the past few years as I was pregnant, exclusively breastfeeding then on the mirena which stopped them. A bit difficult really because it’s hard to know what my “normal” is.

How exciting, I’ll keep everything crossed for you. I’m sure it will all go smoothly!

When TTC #2 I had a chemical pregnancy on cycle 2, I think I was around 5 weeks? This was October last year, I fell pregnant on cycle 4 and I'm now 30 weeks pregnant. My cycles were slightly longer after having my first and I was ovulating later on, around CD19-22. I used Premom & the Ovulation Strips along with Preseed. There is hope & it sucks, please let yourself be upset if you feel you need to be, a loss is a loss at any point!

kc92 · 03/07/2024 20:53

Currently 31 weeks pregnant after having an early loss at 4wks 6 days. I conceived 7 weeks after the loss, which was two short cycles later. If just stopped breastfeeding the month before TTC so cycles were kind of all over! I threw myself into conceiving after, and took COQ10 & vitex to see if it would help. I don't think those were really necessary but they helped me feel proactive about it all & get a sense of control back.

Best of luck on your journey.

Hi lovely, I'm so sorry for your experience. I had a chemical in November 2023 in our first cycle of trying and was absolutely heartbroken. I fell pregnant the next cycle which also unfortunately ended up being another chemical. I was convinced something must have been wrong with me but I fell pregnant again the next cycle and I'm now in my third trimester. I won't lie to you, the anxiety has been bad this entire pregnancy after my early losses but it's all worth it. Sending you love and baby dust x

LucyCL · 03/07/2024 21:16

@Wonderpants3 @kc92 Firstly, sorry for your losses! I have been reading your comments about both of you conceiving in the third cycle after CP. Currently I am on 1/2 dpo in the second cycle of CP and have been BD'ing every day and twice a day during my fertile window. If you don't mind me asking, how often did you dtd during the third cycle after CP?

I think it was only 2-3 times that month because I was travelling for work. Once early in the month in case I ovulated early, once when the sticks showed ovulation results & once a few days later when I had natural signs of it. Not exactly sure which time worked because my booking scan put me a week ahead of where I thought I was in my cycle.

Fingers crossed you'll get a positive soon!!

PlantEnthusiast · 04/07/2024 06:27

@Wonderpants3 sorry to hear of your loss but lovely news that you’re now pregnant. I hope the pregnancy is going smoothly for you. Do you know what you’re having? Any tips on when to start with the ovulation strips? I’m CD7 now and usually ovulate around CD20. I was pretty teary over the weekend but got some very good news (work-related) on Monday so it’s been nice to have something positive to focus on.

@kc92 sorry you went through this too. Do you recall how long your bleeding lasted? Lovely news on your pregnancy, congratulations! Hope you’re well and enjoying it, it goes so quickly!!

@minnieot so sorry you had this twice in a row, I’m already anxious about it happening again so I totally understand why you feel anxious. I hope you’re being well supported. Not long to go now and you’ll be holding your gorgeous baby.

Sending love to you all, it’s so hard! 💔

Im currently TTC #2, I had a CP at 4w5d last cycle and I’m currently on CD13 of the next. Using easy @ home strips / Premom / clear blue digital. No sign of ovulation yet, predicted for Saturday but think it may be delayed. We are DTD daily 🤞🏻

@PlantEnthusiast Thank you so much, we're having another boy! My house is going to be manic. I've just checked my Premom App, I started tested at CD8 but didn't get my peak until CD22, I did get Covid right in the middle which I think messed up my cycle too which I thought would really mess everything up.

@LucyCL I've just had a look back through my Premom calendar, and I ovulated CD22, we BD'd CD17,18, 21, 22, 23. My ovulation came later than I expected due to catching Covid right at the start of my cycle! We also used PreSeed, I had used it in previous months so can't say it was the game changer but I felt it helped on those days we didn't have much time.

Thank you! You mentioned that you ovulated 1 week earlier than you expected. Because when you looked at the LH sticks, you knew you were about to ovulate. Am I right to say you ovulated 1 week earlier than the day when you got a positive ovulation test?

😀Thank you! I think I have done all I could to max out the chance of pregnancy. It is only 25%.

@Wonderpants3 how lovely! I always thought I would want a girl but my little one (almost 2) is a boy and now I just want all the boys 😅 Although I do find boy names trickier xx

It took us 5 months to conceive after a MC at 11 weeks, about the same as the first pregnancy. We left it a couple of months after the MC to have some recovery time. I used easy@home tests, starting from about CD 10.
