Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone else has had similar issues, before I get myself into a panic that somethings not right!

I'm 30 and came off the pill in February - we're planning to start TTC next summer but I was advised to stop taking the pill a year before to get things back to normal.

For the first 3 months post pill , I was regular but with very little bleeding (only really one day of true bleeding) and then this month the same, but nearly a month late.

I know it takes a while to get things in sync, but starting to worry a little now, just wondered if anyone has had similar experiences. Planning to go to the GP in a few months if things continue but hoping for some reassurance in the meantime.

TIA
X

Visiting the gp sounds like a good idea. What were your periods like before the pill? Also I wonder if it will regulate itself? All that said if it were me I would likely have 1-2 more periods and then visit the gp about it. Then you’ve left it 6 months since you came off. Also note down your period dates, duration of the cycle, and how light they were so you have it all when you visit them.

I didn’t have that, I suppose the closest was after a miscarriage and surgery for it I suddenly had very light periods, like incredibly light that I was worried.

What I did was started to track ovulation using opk and bbt. I wanted reassurance that I was ovulating. Then I said if it was still like that in 4 months I would visit the gp because my periods used to be heavy/medium. It turned out I conceived on the third month and it resulted in ds.

I'd say that sounds fairly common, I'd give it a few more months - track your dates so you have a record. Flo app is good, although I wouldn't rely on it for ovulation dates when you do start TTC, better to use tests.

Thanks for your messages, no sooner had I posted than AF made a very definite appearance, for once happy for that! Hopefully things back on track now, planning to test for ovulation after another few cycles to make sure that's happening too.

@sarahspeaking ah that’s good that AF turned up. Hopefully your periods return to how you used to have them in terms of length/flow and become regular. It’s good that you are allowing time before you ttc to pick up on these points.
