Hi all,

Just looking for a bit of support or advice from anyone who is going through/has been through the same thing.

I came off Mirena in September and since then had 2 periods (end of December and beginning of March), my next cycle was over 90 days and I was put on Provera to induce a period in the hope it might kickstart things. I'm now CD21 and no peak on ovulation tests. It went up to 0.47 today (which got my hopes up that I might be peaking) but then dropped again this afternoon. All my tests from GP have come back clear. I am very active and a healthy BMI. I'm 34. The GP is bemused and basically just said it is a waiting game but I am struggling mentally.

Has anyone been through something similar? Has anything helped to regulate periods or stimulate ovulation?

Feeling really alone. All my friends seemed to fall pregnant immediately and I hate feeling like my body isn't working properly!

Thanks so much.

Hello it’s so hard isn’t it. I got pregnant in 2020 after 9 months. I had 40 plus day cycles so it is impassible ovulated on long cycles

I am now trying to conceive with 50 cycles

What's your BMI and how active are you? If you don't eat enough and exercise too much then your body stops ovulating. I fell pregnant in my mid 20s but I had really long cycles too. Randomly fell pregnant and now have a baby.

I am in a similar position. I am currently 42 and I've had irregular cycles for a few years. We started to TTC at Xmas 2023 and I had my period mid Dec as usual, then a weird one day period in the new year, then nothing until 11th April. At the beginning of April, I had booked an appointment with my GP to get my hormones checked and also a blood HCG. By the time I had my bloods done, I had come on my period!! I think I scared it into happening 😅

So, I got my test results back and they were all more or less normal apart from my progesterone which was low, but given I came on my period the day before, it makes sense that it was low. The Dr told me that he can't see any reason why I wasn't getting my period or ovulating.

It is now 26th June and the period in April was the last one I had, so my firat cycle of this year was 101 days and this current one is at day 78. I just don't know what to do. We have said we will gp private to get an ultrasound done and AMH levels etc but I feel I need to start a new cycle before doing this.

Anyhow, we've held off booking a sun holiday just in case we got pregnant, but as it hadn't happened we booked one (5 weeks away). I have a weird feeling that I might actually ovulate and become pregnant just before we fly, that would be ironic!!!

Anyway, sorry for the rambling.I hope something happens for the both of us soon x x

My BMI is 20.5. I’ve cut down my training a lot and just strength train 4 days a week. Have also been trying to eat more!

Doctors didn’t even suggest this could be an issue but I feel like they aren’t specialists so who know!

Hi @BeckyPfromLeeds sorry you are going through something similar but it is also reassuring as I often feel like I’m the only one. I have everything crossed for you and this holiday sounds like it has come at exactly the right time. Please let me know how you get on.

I know I just have to relax but it is so hard when you want it to work and not miss any opportunity! Maybe I need to get that holiday booked in too ;)

Yes @DiscoHan It is definitely needed!!! I've been having some weird cramps and some twinges in my breasts with no sign of AF. I've not tested since 18th, so 10 days ago.

I know some women hate the disappointment each month but I would rather have that than have months of not knowing what's going on.

I do have a very high bmi so this along with potential pcos and peri-menopause are not a good combo 😕

Keep me updated too hun x x
