Can I still get my HyCosy in middle of period?

It's taken me over 6 months to even get an appointment for my HyCosy, which is scheduled for the end of August. The dates were tight, it's going to be on day 5 of my period.

Previously, my period would've been pretty much gone by day 5, but for the past couple of months it seems to be ridiculously light for 3 ish days, then gets heavy for another 3 and then disappears, sometimes it sticks around for a total of 8 days.

I'm worried that they're not going to go ahead with the test if it's heavy on the day. Can it still be done even if my period is heavy?

@MademoiselleFrenglish I have my HyCosy booked in for next month- they asked me my period dates so they could book me in as the clinic I go to won’t perform the procedure when you’re on your period… I think it’s because they look at your uterus lining during the procedure as well as the unblocking of the tubes so if you were menstruating you wouldn’t be able to see what the lining was like or if there is any damage.
I would maybe ring the clinic and explain your situation and see what they suggest. All the best with it! X

@MissEmily5 Thank you so much! That's more info than I've had from anyone else!

Yes they asked me too and back when I made the appointment, day 5 would've been totally fine. It's really only the last 2 months that my periods have changed.

Today I'm day 5 for example and it's absolute carnage, there's no way they'd go ahead with the procedure. My gynae is not interested in the slightest, so I'm not really sure where to go from here. The hospital have said there are no other appointments and didn't give any advice at all.

I'm absolutely lost in all this and no one is helping/answering questions/giving advice. It's so depressing.

Decided to push the hospital a bit more and have had a response from them that I'll pop here just in case it helps anyone else in the future. I'm in France, and the hospital has told me that the HyCosy will go ahead if I still have my period, the only way they would cancel is if I was having hemorrhagic bleeding.

@MademoiselleFrenglish no problem:) glad you got some answers. I hope the procedure goes ahead and it helps with your TTC journey.

I’ll attach the leaflet that my fertility clinic sent me just in case you haven’t received/seen some of the information and like your update just in case someone else is after the information too!
