Is it possible to have good semen analysis results with only 1ml of sperm?

we Have been TTC for 7 months with no luck. I have had some tests which were all fine so have decided to do a semen analysis for DH. He did his sample today and there was only 1ml - he says this is normal for him, he’s always had a low volume. I’ve read that the minimum viable amount is 1.5ml so now worried these results will be really bad. With DS I got pregnant in 2 months (although that was 3 years ago and we’re now in our mid 30s and early 40s respectively).

just wondering if anyone’s DP has had low volume but still got good analysis results/got pregnant?

Did you find anything more out about this? As this is an issue for us too.

My DH has low volume - 1.3ml - but the analysis and sperm quality were all normal. We conceived no1 within 3 months and no2 ended in MC after 6 months of trying. Now going on 2 years in total of TTC with no luck.

I feel I got pregnant twice before with that volume so it will just take longer.

My scan was normal.

To clarify that is TTC No2 for 2 years. I have a healthy 3 year old.

Since I posted this DH has had 2 semen analysis tests. The one where it was just over 1ml which I was concerned about came back with 500 million sperm count which is super high. But only 3% motility which is disastrous. The dr said it likely took too long to process (the postage took 24 hours) and to repeat. The next sample he made sure to drink loads of water and avoid alcohol and he produced just under 2ml. Sperm count was about 300 million so less but still a lot and motility 24% which is under the threshold. Still not pregnant so I think it’s the motility affecting us more than volume.
mad you can see from my DHs results you can have higher volume but less overall sperm and vice versa

I got a positive test today after 2 years. So low sperm volume can get you pregnant.

good luck @LuckyFlash

Amazing! Congratulations! @LittleMsSunny

@LuckyFlash i know it sounds like the end of the world and so frustrating at the moment but the good thing about sperm is it can be dramatically improved fairly quickly. After his first analysis, my DH stopped drinking alcohol completely, went running to get fitter, took iron, CoQ10 and Proceive supplements every day, stopped hot baths (it kills sperm) and switched to looser cotton boxers.

Within 4 months (a sperm renewal cycle length), everything was improved dramatically and I was pregnant the following month.

All these changes can drastically improve sperm quality but you have to go all out, not a half hearted effort.

Best of luck!
