Working out conception date

QuaintPeachMentor · 18/06/2024 12:12

Hi,

I was hoping someone could possibly help me work out my date of conception.
periods are usually every 28-29 days and have always been regular.
LMP was 13th of May and lasted around 5 days.
I had sex on the 19th, 25th and the 31st of May. I know ovulation dates can vary but most calculators are suggesting my ovulation dates are 23th-28th.
I had taken a clear blue weekly indicator test on 13th June and it shown as 2-3 weeks.
Any help or advice would be great
TIA x

If you were due on your period on 7th June (28 days after 13th May), assuming you ovulated 14 days before then you would have ovulated on 25th May. However there are lots of variables, you could have a shorter than average luteal phase and therefore have ovulated a bit later. Is there a particular reason why you want to know?

@imy
Thank you, the calculators roughly came up with those dates also, however on the 19th I slept with my ex and on the 25th someone I’m currently seeing. My ex would not under any circumstances want to have a child and therefore I wouldn’t consider going ahead with the pregnancy as there would be a lot of backlash. I don’t want go into detail regarding this though.
I did take Ellaone 5 days after the 31st (so on the 5th of June, just within that window).
My period would have been due around the 10th of June

I honestly think there's no real way of knowing @QuaintPeachMentor , there's no reason why you couldn't have ovulated slightly early. But I would say the most likely scenario is that it was the sex on the 25th. Fingers crossed for you but I don't think there's a real way of knowing unless you do a DNA test. They will try to date the pregnancy when they scan you but (a) they are not necessarily going to be exactly right to the day and (b) it'll be based on when you ovulated not based on when you had sex.

QuaintPeachMentor · 18/06/2024 16:33

@imy do you think they’d be able to determine when I ovulated? Everything is pointing towards the 25th, I did also call a private scan clinic which confirmed similar dates too but I can’t be certain until I at least have a scan hence why I haven’t mentioned it. They said it would be highly unlikely to be around the 19th and if it was around the 31st the clear blue test would’ve shown 1-2 rather than 2-3, it’s honestly so nerve racking.
Thank you for taking your time to help

you cant possibly know, as sperm can live for 10-12 days inside you

imy · 18/06/2024 16:50

@QuaintPeachMentor they will date your pregnancy based on the size of the foetus but I found that they date they gave me was a few days different to when I knew I ovulated, and then at the 12 week scan it was changed again. I think they will be able to give you an indication though, especially given there's almost a weeks difference between the 19th and 25th.

QuaintPeachMentor · 18/06/2024 18:38

@imy I think if it’s a few days difference it’ll be easy to tell however if it’s a week or so out I wouldn’t. Given the fact that the 19th was the 7th day of my cycle it should be quite obvious but I’d rather be in a position where I know for definite.

@boombang I highly doubt sperm can survive for that long, it’s usually 3 days however only something like 1% can make it to day 7

That is old, inaccurate information, people used to think there was no sperm left when they couldn't see sperm moving, these days it is known that sperm go into hibernation inside women and wait for ovulation

AppleStrudel23 · 19/06/2024 21:18

Sperm can live in you for days, I think you won't know without a DNA test. Congratulations on your pregnancy however!

staybyyou · 19/06/2024 21:24

Most likely the 25th, but could be the 19th if you ovulate slightly earlier than day 14.

QuaintPeachMentor · 20/06/2024 09:57

@AppleStrudel23 thank you.

my first clear blue taken on the 13th indicated 2-3 weeks which if conception had taken place around the 19th it would’ve shown 3+ (I’m assuming)
second clear blue taken on the 17th again shown 2-3 weeks.
final clear blue taken 20th of June shown as 3+ so I do think everything is pointing towards the 25-29th, will hopefully have a better idea once I have the scan
