No positive OPK

I'm now on CD23. My cycles are normally 31 days long - positive opk CD19, ovulation CD20 (assuming) and 11 day luteal phase. They went back to this in my last two cycles after my MMC too. This month I've been testing since CD10 with no positive opk but have had EWCM around day 15 onwards which would coincide with normal ovulation date however I've never got a positive opk despite testing 3 times a day 😣
I'm in such a panic that I've not ovulated this month for some reason as I've never had this before.
I was nightshift over my fertile week and I don't know if that would affect it but I've continued testing and still no positive.

Has anyone had anything similar or can offer advice?

Nightshifts could have affected your circadian rhythm and resulted in delayed ovulation. What type of OPK are you using?

Edited

I'm just using the easy at home ones which have been really accurate before. I'm wondering if that is the reason, I don't know when I was last on Nightshift when I was due to ovulate to compare it to. I'll keep testing and hoping, doing my best to not get stressed about it.

I use the clearblue ovulation tests, and didn't get a peak one month. Apparently this happens as it's normal not to ovulate in about 8% of cycles, I'll post a screenshot...

Solidarity OP, ttc is a mind f#ck.

Thanks for this, I really didn't want it to be the case I didn't ovulate. Did you confirm that you never ovulated or just assumed you didn't? (Tracking temp or anything?)

Hi @jellyfish2 I never managed to pick up ovulation in December. I was convinced I hadn't ovulated and panicked loads. Turns out I had, but either my urine was too dilute or I tested at the wrong times. The positive pregnancy test in January was a shock! It turned into a chemical, but definitely made me realise how fast a rise and fall can happen!

jellyfish2 · 18/06/2024 09:31

@KittyFantastica thank you for this. Hopefully I did ovulate, my urine was quite clear, I really struggle to hold! How are you doing?

OP posts:
KittyFantastica · 18/06/2024 12:10

I struggle to hold too. In the end, after several months of trying to pinpoint ovulation, I worked I'm out that I peak around 10am every time!

I'm struggling with anxiety at the moment. I had a week or so where I felt really calm and serene, but that's long gone 😆

jellyfish2 · 18/06/2024 15:07

@KittyFantastica how many weeks are you now?
I've just noticed a fair bit of ewcm weirdly but opk negative 😭 no idea what's happening. I'll try and hold for 4 hours and keep water to a minimum incase it's delayed ovulation due to nightshift.

KittyFantastica · 18/06/2024 16:32

No idea @jellyfish2 😅, my cycle was so messed up I have no idea how to even calculate it. I'm 19DPO today, so I guess maybe that equates to 4w5d for 'average' calculation?

jellyfish2 · 18/06/2024 16:41

@KittyFantastica how exciting, I'm so happy for you after you've had a shit time of it recently 🩷

Same thing happened to me, didn’t get any positive ovulation and here I am with a 6 month old… and took the fact I couldn’t get pregnant that month and drank loads without realising I was pregnant Woops! Hope you get it sorted hopefully just a one off month or test just hasn’t picked it up

soymilknosugar · 18/06/2024 16:49

I’m the same! First month testing but all weak tests and deffo no peak. Now on CD23 of a 33 day cycle. Surely it’s too late now!

Aw that's amazing 🤩

@soymilknosugar I'm usually a 31 day cycle. I'm wondering if I didn't ovulate and I'll now ovulate really late given I've noticed more cm. Who knows but it's so confusing! Guess all we can do is test until af comes or a positive test 🤷

OP posts:

I've continued to take ovulation tests until my period just because I've yet to see a positive result. Took this today and it's a blazing positive on cd30!? My period is due on Wednesday. Could I really be ovulating 11 days late or can this be normal before a period? I've taken a pregnancy test just incase but it's negative.

Ohhh, how interesting @jellyfish2 this is like the opposite of me! I always ovulated between days 14 - 16 and don't even know what made me start from day 8, but the next day I had a blazing positive. 9 days later, a positive pregnancy test.

I think it could definitely be possible you're having an outlier of a cycle and ovulating later. What was your previous cycle like?

After miscarriage ovulation can be early or delayed. OP can I give you one piece of advice?

Don't stress about getting pregnant, when it's all you can think about the stress can stop it happening. Totally forget it, go on holiday or something have plenty of nice nights etc and completely put it out of your mind and it happens.

I spent 3 years not getting pregnant, within 2 weeks of seeing a specialist I was pregnant because I was waiting for my period to arrive for various tests I stopped worrying and trying and it happened. I've heard so many stories similar to mine it's unreal.

jellyfish2 · 24/06/2024 19:28

@KittyFantastica it's so bizarre! I just took another and it says 1.93 I've never got that high before! My previous two cycles were 31 days which is always what they've been. Before that was after the miscarriage so it was really long but it seemed like they were getting back to normal and then this.

I could be wrong but I think ovulation tests detect pregnancy earlier than normal pregnancy tests.

Thanks, I know I really try not to but it's so hard isn't it. We put so much bloody pressure on ourselves when we want something so much. A family member of mine tried for years naturally and never got pregnant, third round of IVF was successful. 10 months later she found out she was pregnant unexpectedly after being told she was infertile. She clearly wasn't trying and it just happened. I'm glad to hear you had a successful outcome @Mummy2024 🩷

Yeah you get obsessed, so sorry about your MMC I've had one and it was terrible. I really hope you get your BFP soon OP. Once you have your first baby you will never worry again, I never did and never struggled to conceive again either

jellyfish2 · 24/06/2024 19:39

@Mummy2024 I already have a toddler, I got pregnant first cycle with him and also first cycle with my MC pregnancy which is what makes me worry but I can only assume it's the MC that's caused things to go a bit haywire (hopefully temporarily).
