Slightly high estradiol and ttc

Hi all,

I have been actively ttc for 8 months now (although not on contraception for 13 months).

I had fertility bloods done with Hertility a couple of months ago to check all was ok (I'm 37 and this is my first time ttc)

My estradiol levels came back as 333pmol/L which is just slightly in the high level.

The last couple of cycles I've noticed my breast are extremely tender around ovulation and right up to my period (mistaken for potential bfp 😫 as it's so unusual for me). I have seen online that extremely tender breast can be a symptom of high estradiol, this made me google other symptoms, and I have a lot of them

  • short periods
  • extreme bloating
  • fatigue
  • anxiety
  • bad period pains

I am going to make an appointment to get this checked over with my Gp, but I just wondered whether anyone here has had similar and what your experiences are with ttc? I'm worried this is affecting my fertility 😞

Hi :) I don’t have anything helpful to share but I just wanted to comment as I am in a similar boat - TTC for only 4 months, but I’ve had 2 chemical pregnancies in that time.

I had the hertility tests done at the start of cycle 4 and it came back with extremely high estradiol levels, I then fell pregnant that cycle so thought it wasn’t a worry but it was a chemical.

I contacted my GP today to ask for tests/a scan as I’m sure there is something wrong, I was expecting them to shut me down as I’ve not been trying long but they gave me an appointment! I think having the test results is helpful, it’s not for a couple of weeks but I’ll report back.

Sorry you’re going through a stressful time with it too, hope you also manage to get some answers from your GP :)

Is your BMI elevated? That can sometimes result in oestrogen dominance. Was your progesterone level fine?

Thank you for sharing, and I'm glad your GP is getting you in for further tests.

I think I will request a scan or something.

@sirensong no my BMI is fine I did see that higher BMI could cause raised estrogen levels but I've never struggled with my weight and I'm very active. I don't believe they tested my progesterone levels, but I think I will ask for this at the Gp as well x
