How Often To Test?

Ive ummed and ahhed about posting on here as I didnt want to jinx my chances!

Af due today. Tested first thing with FMU and it was BFN. I had a crampy feeling Saturday which I presumed was my period, but the pain stopped and I felt fine yesterday. Ive also had slight cramping this morning which makes me think maybe period is on its way and Ive been unlucky again this month. However, cramping has now eased off.

So my question is when would be best for me to test again without becoming obsessive?! Would I be wrong to ask GP to do a test to save me possibly wasting money?

Hi,

Usually it is recommended that you test in 2 days time (after the last time you tested) as this will give the pg hormones (if, fingers x'ed, there are some) time to build up (hCG roughly doubles every 48 hours).

Now obviously, this is the official line - I have been known to waste alot of money on tests in the past!!

WRT your Dr's - as far as I can tell it all depends on your surgery as to what they will do and when. Some say they wont even do a wee test anymore and others will (mine did).

Good luck whatever you decide to do!

Hello,

Try doing another test tomorrow or Tuesday with FMU. It isn't obsessive to test if AF is late! I wouldn't go to your GP though, as many won't do blood tests for pregnancy, and therefore it might be a wasted appointment that someone else could have had.

Good luck!

I'd give it a day or 2. I got some cheap tests from access diagnostics (£5 for 20) so didn't feel like I was wasting too much money by testing every other day. I don't tend to get a faint positive until at least 16 days post bd.

Good luck!
