Has anyone recently been referred to the centre for life in Newcastle for treatment and could possibly let me know the wait time please? :-) I was referred a few weeks ago, awaiting first appt to come through. Unsure how long this process will take. Thanks :)

Hello, I don’t know about Newcastle, but I was referred to Leeds 2 years ago and didn’t hear anything. After a few weeks I phoned them up and they told me the waiting list was 33 weeks. So worth giving them a ring.

Sorry that wasn’t clear. GP referred me to the hospital for fertility treatment but the GP didn’t know how long the wait was. I phoned the hospital and they said it was a 33 week waiting list. So just wondered if it was worth you phoning to ask.

Hi I was referred to the Centre for Life in early March and we went for our initial appointment last week as we were offered a cancellation. They said it would then be at least November before any treatment would start if recommended.

Hi, I was referred in January 2024 by my GP. I had my first appointment August 5th (got scan and bloods), next appointment is scheduled for mid October xx

Thanks for making this thread, it’s helpful! I’ve just been referred to this clinic too so I will update this thread in the future with how long it takes to get an appointment.

Geordienewbie · 25/08/2024 16:47

Just to add to this thread, I was referred on 1st Feb and we had our first appointment at the centre for life on Thursday. Next steps are a follow up appointment in October and they think we’ll be candidates for IVF. I didn’t get a time frame for when IVF treatment might start but the doctor said that people being put forward for IVF now would probably be starting in November. So we’re hoping for January!

Hey!

I live in County Durham and have been referred to Newcastle too :)

I can’t even remember when we actually started the initial GP appointments but if I had to guess I’d say either December 2023/January 2024

but my most recent appointment have been…

24th September 2024 - had an appointment at Chester-le-street hospital where we had the option to be referred to either Leeds or Newcastle fertility centres, we chose Newcastle.

26 November 2024 - first appointment at centre for life. They did a transvaginal ultrasound, took my bloods and did my BMI. The ultrasound might just because I they had inconclusive results on whether I had a bicornate uterus, so you might not have this.

08 January - partner had to go give another sample

10 February 2025 - we have a video appointment scheduled, I can only assume this will be to go through the results of test they have taken and explain what the next steps are

after the video call I have read other people say they receive the consent forms then there scheduling appointment and then usually within a few months they start treatment

I hope this helps!

I’ll try remember to update you once I get my scheduling appointment

x

We got referred end of November and couple of weeks ago got a letter saying it’s a 6 month wait for initial appointment, so I’m still waiting for that appointment. GP didn’t offer up any tests but did make me wait a year despite being 37, now I’m 38 and will be pretty much 39 by the time this appointment happens.
