OPK results constantly up & down?

Hi all,

I’ve recently starting tracking ovulation using OPK’s for the first time as ttc. I’ve recently had my nexplaon removed and had my period come back on the 4th May. I started testing on day 5 and the results have just been constantly up & down showing no pattern or consistency. I’m using easy @ homes tests with the Premom app.

I’ve been trying to track my CM alongside the tests too, but again every time a check throughout the day it changes between creamy, egg white etc.

I had a 0.41 result this afternoon which is the highest I’ve had yet & showed the LH to be on the rise, but tested again this evening and it’s back down to 0.14.

It’s just really disheartening seeing the level go slightly up & then back down a few hours later, I should’ve had my surge by now in this cycle so feel really disappointed that I haven’t yet and have no idea when it will happen.

Has anybody had a similar experience, or better understanding of these tests? I’ve heard some people have really short surges (so 🤞 this may have been what happened today) but may be that my hormones are all over the place still from the nexplanon removal.

Any help or advice would be really appreciated, thank you! ☺️

How long are your cycles? Did you maybe drink too much when you did the last test? It looks as though the lighting in the last test is quite different to the others too. I don't usually get my peak til around cd19 but the numbers do fluctuate slightly until I get positive tests.

This is how mine looked this cycle

Hey, I started using these ovulation tests last month and I found them so stressful and hard to interpret. Like you I was getting mixed results I got to the morning of CD18 and thought I wouldn't ovulate but kept testing & finally I got my peak CD19! I would just keep testing and hopefully you get your clear positive result 🤞 I have actually switched back to using the clear blue advanced ovulation tests (I got pregnant first time using these ovulation tests in March but sadly it ended in a chemical pregnancy). These are a bit more expensive but I preferred them as it shows symbols/smiley faces rathering than me having to compare the lines. Plus you only test once a day with first morning urine with these tests and I find I get less obsessive. I hope you get your positive OPK soon, don't give up yet there's still plenty time in your cycle to ovulate. Sending good thoughts :)

Hi OP, how long are your cycles usually? Try not to be disheartened by what the readings are on the Premom app, the fluctuations are normal. I use the app too and generally ignore what number it gives me unless it's basically peak. The app is not an exact science. A lot of people even with a regular 28-30 day cycle would assume they ovulate at day 14 but for so many people that isn't accurate and you may have a short luteal phase and not ovulate until day 19-20, which you wouldn't know until you start tracking ovulation.

Thank you all so much for your advice, kind words & reassurance it’s really helped me understand it all a bit better and gave me some confidence!

You guys were right, my peak just happens to be a bit later than the typical cycle & this afternoon it looks like I’m close to peak on my easy@home test & a positive on my clear blue, I just had to be a bit more patient😂

Hopefully🤞 I won’t be needing to test again next month, but if so I’ll know what to expect, what’s normal and how best to test thanks to you all!

Sending you all positive vibes on your journeys ❤️

That's great, it must be such a peace of mind knowing you are ovulating! I'm on day 15 today and still waiting, hoping for tomorrow or Thursday & that this is our month 🤞
