How soon can you TTC after MC?

hi,

I had a missed miscarriage last month which resulted in needing medical treatment (medication not surgical). Everything was passed and no surgery needed.
the nurse that did my follow up scan confirmed everything had passed but she told me to wait until I have had a period before TTC because she said it’s better to let the endometrium thicken up again.

does this make sense? Or is this BS with no actual scientific backing? I am keen to TTC asap and had hoped to not wait as I think I will be ovulating soon, but don’t want to do anything stupid either.

I've been told the recommendation to wait for your period to return is so that you're able to date the pregnancy properly.

If you haven't had a period then it'll be hard to know when you ovulated and therefore when conception occurred. A scan can only show what the baby is measuring on that day, but with no cycle to compare it to you won't know if it's growing on track or not. Now that might be OK for you, but may cause stress for others.

To counter the not knowing question there’s always opk and bbt to track ovulation. If anyone wanted to do that of course to take the unknown/worry about dating away.

We tried straight after mmc (surgery) but I didn’t track that first cycle, mostly because I didn’t think of tracking until cycle two. Then I tracked using opk and bbt. I conceived on cycle 3 and now have ds.

Sonographer/midwife told me to go for it as soon as I was ready (MC at 8 weeks)

As PP suggested, track with ovulation strips/BBT and you'll know your date of ovulation

I think the only reason they ask you to wait is so it's easier to date (as long as there wasn't a medical reason for waiting). I miscarriaged on 20th April and I ovulated 3 days ago and we were at it every day 😂 I think it's up to you and when you're ready to TTC again... as long as there's no medical issue and you're ok with it being difficult to date then I'd say it's okay
