Hi ladies, me and my husband are on cycle #3 of ttc our first baby. Im using an app to track my cycle although my periods can vary by a few days each month and I am monitoring ewcm. We are DTD every other day/ 3 times in fertile window. Just wondered of there is anything else I should be doing to increase chances?

LH testing gives you a much clearer idea of most fertile day (day before ovulation, when lh peaks), so you could try that? Fertilily conception cup possibly increases chances.

LH testing to pin point when you ovulate can help. As everyone ovulates different cycle days. I tried for too long without LH testing and never realised I was a late ovulate-r, could have saved myself a lot of heartache tbh.
Also was told by a fertility nurse that you need to be DTD each day for 5 days before ovulation to ensure there is enough sperm there for when you do ovulate. Hope that helps!

I would also say LH and dtd 2-3 days in a row.

I got pregnant the first month of trying by using LH testing and having every day in the lead up to the LH peak, the day of the peak and then the day after. Obviously I was also lucky to get pregnant the first cycle but I wouldn't have known the day of ovulation without the LH testing.

I would also say ovulation testing- lh. Also bbt. I conceived on the second cycle of tracking (the third cycle after a mmc). Also it’s good I did because I was watching my ewcm and I thought I had covered the window with that, turns out I ovulated 6 days after that noticeable ewcm disappeared so we would have been out that month if I hadn’t have been checking lh.

Thanks so much ladies! Really helpful ❤️ are there any LH strips which are better than others would you say? Also once you test positive on a LH when does this mean you ovulate?

I found easy@home effective, got cheap boxes off amazon. They’re really hard to gauge by eye when they’re high vs peak, premom app is free and gives you an automatic reading which makes it very easy to track.

BatildaB · 19/05/2024 00:03

Oh and to answer your other question you ovulate after the lh peak - most resources say one day after, but it can be a bit longer (bbt can help confirm). But because of sperm decapacitation you’re most fertile a bit before you ovulate. So the day you get your peak lh reading is likely to be your most fertile day. But worth having a go the next day too in case you ovulate a bit later after lh peak. Also if your cycles are irregular or long then i think it’s worth keeping testing even after you’ve found the peak as some women have a peak as their bodies attempt to ovulate and then another peak later.

I’m going to fly in the face of popular opinion and advise against LH testing. That adds stress. And stress is bad for ttc. Talking therapies, reflexology, acupuncture and taking care of yourself are all useful. I had a friend who was a Billings Method advisor so I started tracking using a tracking app.

emmatcc1 · 19/05/2024 09:44

@pinkrose001 I use one step. And mine goes high the first day and next day is peak and the day after that I ovulate.

imy · 19/05/2024 13:31

I also ovulate the next day after my LH peak and also use easy@home from Amazon 😊 some people might find it stressful but I find it interesting knowing what’s going on with my body and it’s exciting to spot the peak!

BatildaB · 19/05/2024 14:43

Yeah I also found it interesting rather than stressful to learn more about my cycle. But obviously everyone is different.
