Changing time of ovulation

Has anybody managed to successfully change their cycle so that you are then ovulating at a more convenient time??

My cycle has been 27-29 days for the last 6 months since ttc number 3. This is my first with my second husband. My older two go to their dads on alternate weekends (from Friday after school to Monday school drop off) and frustratingly I am ovulating either on the weekend that they are here, or the Monday after!! Pretty much the only time that me and DH have uninterrupted time to DTD!

I am thinking of going back on the pill for a few weeks then coming off again to try and push my cycle back a few weeks. Even if it then falls that I am ovulating in the week that would be better as DC generally go to bed earlier in the week. I am worried though that this may then take a while for the contraceptive to get out of my system again. Has anybody had any success in ttc after trying to change ovulation dates??

No expert but I could see this throwing your system into disarray for weeks or even months. Couldn't you just DTD after they've gone to bed, even if it means you staying up a little later? Or set an alarm for early in the morning and do it before they wake up?
