I had my d&c 22/04 I’ve still not had a period back only coming up three weeks post op but been trying actively however my pregnancy test is still faintly faintly positive
does anyone know when to start ovulation strips can I do it now or need to be completely negative first

Hi @Jenroxy5 following my last MC, it took 8wks to get my period back.
I would wait until your test is negative before trying, as it will just cause confusion on whether you are pregnant or not. I didn’t ovulate until after my tests were fully negative.
I’ve recently had a d&c and was told not to have sex for the first 3wks due to risk of infection

Hi @Jenroxy5, I had my D&C a month before you on 22/03 and I'm still testing faintly positive. I didn't get my period back until 7 weeks post-D&C and I don't think I ovulated during the time between the surgery and my period arriving, though some people do.

I've been back to my EPU many times as they won't discharge me until my tests are completely negative. I've had two scans to confirm no retained products. They just said sometimes it takes some ladies a long time for the hcg to leave the system. Mine were still dye stealers 3 weeks post-surgery though and she did ask whether it could be a new pregnancy (definitely not as I had a uterine infection and sex was out of the question until 4 weeks afterwards), so it can happen that new pregnancies start that way. I think hcg has to be very low for it though.

Sorry you're going through this too. I'm loosely testing ovulation this month just to see if my cycle is back to normal, though we've decided to just relax for this cycle. We won't prevent, but we won't go at it like we did before either.

Thanks @Figtree11 and @KittyFantastica we had it okd by doctor only reason being I caught infection 4 days post op and was treated etc and then rescanned every 48 hours along with bloods feeling myself again 100% and bleeding stopped pretty much days post op I had been bleeding 6 weeks straight before the d&c so I think that’s why.
move been testing and watching it go and it’s extremely light now but not sure to test for ovulation now while it’s still really extremely faint or wait another week to see if a period appears or anything x

Oh that’s good news @Jenroxy5 sorry didn’t want to try tell you what to do! But I was worried about infection, I’m glad you are doing ok now.
Fingers crossed your cycle regulates soon 🤞🏻

I’m sorry you’ve been through it before 😞
I had my first d&c a week and a half ago. Last year I had medical & it took 8 weeks to get a period. I’m hoping it won’t take as long this time that I’ve had a d&c

Sorry to hear of your MC. I had a MMC at 11 weeks and started bleeding on 14th April this year. I’ve just come on my period yesterday, which is exactly 30 days later. I’m still taking metformin though for my PCOS, it regulates my cycles so I’m not sure if that’s helped get it back quicker?

So far this period has been so heavy, was hoping it would be lighter than usual which is something a lot of people say after a MC, but it’s not 🙃

I’ve been testing ovulation and got a positive a strong one may I add on Tuesday even though my pregnancy tests are very very verrrrry faint so I’m assuming my levels must nearly at 10 or below I’ve googled and apparently possible to ovulate whilst not pregnant but still having small HCG in your system after miscarriage due to the d&c
we have bd anyway and see where it takes us.
so sorry to hear of your Mc ladies. I’m 3 and a half weeks post op and still no period my bleeding stopped only 2-3 days after d&c but I’d been bleeding for weeks. But if this ovulation is right then it’ll be another 2 weeks before I get it back which would be 5-6 weeks post d&c
