Ttc- fear of UTI, how to get over it?

Hi, my partner and I are trying to conceive and it's only our first month. He's thinks I should wait to go pee after sex because it will help our odds.

I've tried explaining how I am prone to UTIs and how I've gotten them in the past and it's a big worry for me

I haven't had one since 2022, but we were long distance from April 2024-April 2025

I mostly used to get them when I was younger and having a lot of drunk sex

Can someone offer advice ?

I had this issue both before trying to conceive and during. I did the following that helped.

Wee before sex if you can and just after. I would wait about 10 mins or so.

Have a little wash down there after.

I took cranmed tablets (cranberry capsules) every day / day after that we did and I think that helped.

I got 1 UTI first month we tried for DC1 but didn't get them when we tried for DC2 x

There’s no proper evidence that lying down after helps conception, it’s much more important to prevent UTI by going to toilet after. I never lay down for longer than few mins, conceived within 4 months each time.

There is no evidence that waiting does anything. If you have a UTI definitely per after sex, infections are bad anyway, but can also hinder pregnancy.

I tried this lying down so many times and nothing happened. Your health is important and doing things that help keeping UTIs away is important.

Buy a ferti lily cup thing. Pop it straight after dtd then go pee - best of both worlds.
