I am so angry - Appointment changed without telling me resulting in me missing it

I had first appointment booked at ACU for 17 April which I was referred for at the beginning of January.

Have just received a letter saying that as I didn't turn up to my appointment on 29 March I would have to go back to my GP to be referred.

I have just rung the unit to find out what this is all about and someone had changed my appointment but seemingly decided not to tell me. They have rebooked my appointment but not until the end of May.

I am so angry and upset - I thought we were finally going to be getting somewhere. Can't get hold of DH to rant to either !

That is awful - poor you.

Here's what you should do.

1. Call PALS at the hospital and see if they can intervene for you

2. Write to the dept secretary explaining what has happened and asking if they can get you an earlier appt

3. write official complaint letter to the hospital because they should not be allowed to get away with this

4. Ring the dept sec every day and see whether there are any cancellations - that way they should give you one just to stop you calling them

Thanks Yellowblush - I did say I wanted to take it further and the person I was speaking to was going to re-direct me to PALS but I wasn't in a fit state to talk to them right then.

Of course, they copied the letter saying I had missed my appointment to the GP so I know have to contact them to explain that I wasn't a complete Fuckwit, someone else was.

Am going to have a think about whether to go privately but it just makes me so cross that I'll have to pay because of their mess up. At least though I won't feel guilty about jumping any queues !
