Alcohol and TWW

Hi All, I cannot believe I am writing this. But this month after trying for 4months we decided to stop the OPKs and just have sex every 2 days around my estimated fertile period. We had gotten so annoyed at doing everything right and nothing working that we decided not to live in 2 week blocks!!

Part of that was to not stop our social events etc. So we went out last night (my birthday is this week). Drank about 6/7 pints and was very sick (normal for me, I'm a lightweight).

Due period tomorrow so said feck it and took a test...its positive. I cannot believe it. I've never had so much as a shadow before.

Now please talk me down off a cliff about the drinking last night.. please, please tell me it won't have done any harm!!

I’m pretty sure it won’t have. You must be 3weeks at most?

I drank until 6/7ish weeks (didn't know I was pregnant). DS is 4 and absolutely fine.

The reason you shouldn’t drink is because alcohol can pass from your blood to the baby via the placenta. The placenta doesn’t take over until 8-12. Which for most women is when nausea will start to subside. At this stage there is no placenta and so no means for the alcohol to pass to the baby. The only damage you have done is that you’ll feel groggier than you would normally and it’ll take you a bit longer to get over the hangover.

I found out i was pregnant first week of Jan after several Christmas parties. My DS is now 14 fine and doing well at school. Don't worry just look after yourself now xxxx Congratulations

Congratulations!! I did similar...had taken a test and it was negative so went out and celebrated a friends birthday. Two weeks later I tested positive...and then discovered at first scan that I was further on than my dates (irregular periods) so had actually been about 8wks pregnant when I had tested negative.
My baby was born very healthy and is now an amazing 16yr old!

I really celebrated my birthday the weekend before I found out…4 days of enjoyment 🙈

I had a bottle of wine to myself on valentines day last year, found out I was two days later. My six month old is currently napping on me right now, perfectly happy and healthy 😊
