BFP - ectopic & MC

Hi all. I had my first ever BFP the other week - unfortunately the day or so after my result I started having pains in my right side only. Resulting tests discovered it was ectopic and I had a MC shortly after. I’ve been given the all clear to try to conceive again. Just wondering about any body else’s experiences of conceiving after an ectopic pregnancy? I didn’t have any medication intervention (medication or surgery), and was just under expectant management. My nurse did say it’s best to wait until my first natural period for dating reasons mostly, for if I was to get pregnant straight away - but just wondering about anybody else’s experiences/thoughts. We do want to try again asap. I know the risk of it happening again is higher, but still very low. So I guess I am a little worried about this. My main issue is also seeing my friends and their babies - a friend has also recently announced they are expecting too. It feels very hard to navigate this - I think getting pregnant again, and it being a normal and healthy pregnancy, would be a big part of my healing journey. I’m not sure if this makes any sense, but any similar experiences would be helpful to hear 🩷

Sorry about your experience. My ectopic pregnancy ended mid June 2023. I had the expectant management route too thankfully, but it was still a terrible time. I tracked the following cycle just to keep an eye on it really, we didn't attempt to conceive. It threw my hormones off a bit and the cycle probably lasted about 6 weeks.

We attempted to conceive on the second cycle and were successful. I was offered a scan at 6 week to check the placement and thankfully we were all good!

I hope it all works in your favour!

Sorry that date should say June 2022, my baby was born in 2023.

How was the pain during those 6 weeks? Did you have any pressure when going to the washroom in your rectum and bladder by chance?

No toilet functions were all normal. I showed up as having a UTI as well, which when I’ve had a UTI in the past I have also experienced right groin pain only (unsure why!). I could only explain it as period like cramps, except rather than in my abdomen it was in the join between my thigh and mons pubis, so right on the pelvic bone. Because I didn’t have any other symptoms of the UTI they referred me to the EPU just to be sure, where I had 2 ultrasounds and confirmed that I had no intrauterine pregnancy, and an unknown mass on my right ovary, so it was ruled as pregnancy of unknown location, likely ovarian ectopic. Since the miscarriage I’ve had no pain whatsoever. If you’re having pain when going to the bathroom I would suggest speaking to your GP 🩷
