Charting ladies - could anyone answer a quick question for me?

I don't chart - I have thought about it after reading TCOYF but haven't got around to it. May try next cycle. In the meantime I just wondered if you would be able to help me with something.

I've been keeping track of my other 'signs' to identify when I ovulate and from EWCM/cramping thought it was around day 11 or so (cycle 27/28 days) giving a LP of at least 16 days. This would also fit in with the times I have got pregnant before. In addition DD2's due date was moved back 4 days at the dating scan (hence my thinking that I maybe ovulate approx 4 days 'earlier' than the standard day 14).

I have since read here though that it is very unusual to have a LP of longer than 14 days and certainly not longer than 16. Unfortunately I have not got TCOYF anymore (library book!) - what is your opinion? Has anyone else got a particularly long LP?

the cramping can be the swelling of the vesicle before the egg is released which can be 2-3 days before O. Charting you BBT will be the only way you can be sure of having O'd, unfortunately.
I'm given to understand that an LP of >15 is rather rare.

What cd do you think you are now? When was the first date of your last period?

I'm now on CD 15. Had EWCM and cramping CD 11 and more EWCM CD 12 (later than last cycle - I had 'dried up' by CD12 last time). Pretty dry CD13 onwards. Yes I should just try temping but I'm a bit reluctant - the book made a lot of taking temp same time, after 3 hours consecutive sleep, before you even get up to go to the loo etc. I have quite disrupted sleep (light sleeper, weak bladder 2 DDs, snoring husband) and I'm not sure I ever wake up after three hours consecutive sleep.

Plus I have a fear of getting obsessed and stressed out although I do appreciate many people here have said charting actually makes you less stressed and more in control.
Also think DH would see it as a bit OTT - a sign I was not just relaxing and 'waiting and seeing' like I'm supposed to be.

Well it would seem that your peak day would be cd12 and O probable for that day.

I suppose there will be a necessary element of wait and see for this month, but if you take CD12 as O then you can just mark off the days until your period arrives (or not ) and then that will give you your LP within a day or so.

The charting isn't for everyone and Dh doesn't really look favourably on it it has to be said. But imo these things are better organised with military precision but secretly, so that they think it's just happened by chance iyswim.

Good luck!
