Positive test 3 weeks after miscarriage

I had a miscarriage 3 weeks ago at 7 weeks gestation. I have since had 2 negative pregnancy tests, so we started trying again immediately. The midwife told me you can ovulate again as soon as 5 days after.

Yesterday I got a vf bfp on a Superdrug early response test. Today I have a bfp on digital ultra early clear blue.

Does this indicate a new pregnancy? Would be grateful for opinions :) thank you

If you had gone negative from your mc then I would assume so 🤞🤞 - how long ago was your last negative test and was it on one of the early response tests like the two you’ve taken?

The last negative was last Wednesday but it wasn't an early response one

I guess recheck in 24-48 hours and if getting darker that’s your answer! Hope it is a positive for you! 🤞

Thank you! I'm scared to get too excited just yet. I'll have to be patient and test again Tuesday 🤞

So hard to be patient though, I know I would be peeing on a stick multiple times a day 😂 but also know that’s incredibly unhealthy!

missmam · 28/04/2024 15:40

How lovely! Congrats! Thanks for the hope x

I've done 3 since yesterday and they all say the same but I'm still unsure, so there's no point doing anymore yet! I'll try to wait it out until I can be more sure🤞

My positive at the same time is now 12 years old x

Just a little update and still looking for some advice please! It's been 4 days since my first test and I'm still getting faint positives. I still can't be sure whether it could be a new pregnancy or hormones left from the miscarriage.
If the 25miu test was negative 7 days ago, would it be possible for there to still be a difference of 15miu left in my system for the early response tests to pick up on?

Also, although very faint, is there line progression here?
The purple are superdrug tests, the blue are Sainsbury's. Each set taken a day apart.

I really don’t know but if there is a small amount of retained product of conception it can cause the tests to stay positive at a low level I believe.
I can’t tell on the first picture. On the second it’s faint but the line does seem a little darker, but would have thought it would have done more than this in 4 days?
Were you ever given any details of anyone to call from your miscarriage if your pregnancy test didn’t go negative? If so I would call for their advice, probably worth seeing what your blood HCG is doing?

I really hope this is your rainbow baby 🤞maybe do a 25miu test and see if anything shows up now (given it didn’t before)

I think you might be right and it may be retained product. I've had minor cramps and back ache the last couple of weeks, I've been too quick to convince myself it was a new pregnancy but I think it makes more sense now that it's RPOC. I'm going to call the GP today. :(

I hope not! I really hope it’s a little bean. The EPU might be worth a call??

Thank you, I hope so too but I've lost all faith now, mentally preparing myself for it being RPOC. I'll give EPU a call this morning and see if it's possible to book in for a scan.

The bloods came back with HCG level 12.5, I was told on the phone that it means I have a small amount of rpoc and that the doctor would call the following day (yesterday) to discuss whether I'd prefer to pass it naturally or have the tablets. I haven't heard from the doctor so I've just called back in and been told that they can't diagnose rpoc without a scan, so I'm really confused and waiting for someone to call me back x

Update - they can't confirm that it's RPOC and have no idea why I was told that 🤔 I need to go back in today to have bloods done again

Okay final update! My hcg levels have gone down to 9, so definitely no pregnancy and no concerns with regards to rpoc. I need to go back in a week to check bloods again but the midwife said it should all leave my system naturally.

OP posts:
OnePinkDuck · 06/05/2024 18:43

Glad you don’t need any medical intervention! Fingers crossed it will happen soon! Look after yourself!

SPsmama · 06/05/2024 19:01

I had RPOC, it was literally tiny, less than a CM and had no blood supply but took me 3 weeks to get a negative test. I didn't ovulate for another 2 weeks after that.

Hopefully you are pregnant again but RPOC is a possibility.

Sorry for your loss Flowers
