Faulty clear blue ovulation test

hi there!

I started used the Clearblue digital advanced ovulation tests last week.

I had a low fertility symbol pop up followed a week later by the flashing smiley face. I’ve had this for about 7 days now.

out of curiosity, I put water in the test instead of wee, and the flashing face appeared again!

has anyone experienced anything similar?

Doesn’t it say on them to stop testing that cycle once a static smiley appears, as the static smiley will keep appearing? I’m sure the instructions say something like that

Sorry - it wasn’t static - it was flashing

It stays flashing until it picks up the LH surge and then goes static. That’s all it’s looking for at that stage or else remains flashing. I just had 9 days of flashing until I got my static Monday there

Oh interesting! User issue then as first time using and felt disheartened

If for some reason there isn’t a LH surge I’m assuming it’ll go back to the circle?

I had the same flashing when put in water, obviously faulty. Read about it somewhere else too.

I believe with the Clear blue tests it continues to flash regardless until you get your peak. They suggest you stop testing after a certain number of days but not sure how many! I had months of 8/9 flashing before a static some months, but I do have long cycles!

It works differently to other ovulation tests
Clearblue® Advanced Digital Ovulation Test works differently to other ovulation tests as it is designed to detect 2 hormones, estrogen and LH. When it detects a rise in your level of estrogen it displays High Fertility (flashing smiley face), and will continue to display High Fertility in the following days whilst it looks for your LH surge. When your LH surge is detected, the test displays Peak Fertility (static smiley face).l

Seen more than 9 High Fertility days?
If you see more than 9 High Fertility days you may wish to stop testing this cycle.

  • If you started testing on the correct day for your usual cycle length and you see 9 or more days of High Fertility, it is unlikely that you will see Peak Fertility in this cycle.
  • Occasionally some women have an LH surge that is too low for the test to detect or they do not ovulate during a cycle and therefore they don’t see Peak Fertility. This is not unusual and may happen in approximately 8% of cycles. If you do not see Peak Fertility for 3 consecutive cycles, we recommend you discuss this with your doctor.
copied the above from the instructions online, good luck x

Ive been using these for a while. Inhave had one or two odd cycles, including onecwhipere I had a chemical pregnancy. This cycle I got my peak static on this test after two days of flashing. It was a little earlier than usual though. According to Clearblue ps instructions I should stop testing because my peek had been found. So I did stop using as per usual but I then continued to use strip tests. 5 days after my peek static smiley I got almost a dye stealer on the strip test so if I didnt ovulate first time and this was my perk then what is the point of paying for the very expensive CBD if it is not showing my true surge. Still no sign of AF or positive pregnancy test so who knows.

Carportforme · 09/08/2024 15:26

So, still no AF and now I am now 20 days past the date of my static smiley face. HCG test still negative and no symptoms of AF and/or pregnancy so what's going on!
