Day 21 progesterone test result

Hi everyone,

Hoping to see if anyone has experienced something similar and gone on to conceive without issue!

I have recently had a range of blood tests following a MMC in Feb this year and a chemical pregnancy last summer. All of my test results were luckily fine, although I’m a bit confused about my progesterone result.

My day 21 progesterone result (or my equivalent to day 21 as I have slightly longer cycles, but blood was taken 7DPO) was 25mmol, which my GP has marked down as satisfactory. I’ve read via various NHS Trust documentation that 30mmol and above is considered the aim to confirm ovulation has happened, and anything below 30 is sub-optimal (unfortunately I can’t find anything from my local NHS Trust, which would be the most helpful!). I have smaller than expected ovaries and have previously been told by the GP that this wouldn’t impact my chances of conceiving or that it has had anything to do with my previous losses, but following the result I’m starting to worry!

I guess I have 2 main worries: 1) am I actually ovulating regularly and 2) if I (hopefully 🤞🏻) fall pregnant again in the future, am I producing enough progesterone naturally to sustain an early pregnancy without it ending in another loss.

Should I go back to the GP armed with the info from other NHS Trusts that my result is classed as sub-optimal? And if so, what should I be expecting the GP to do in response? I don’t want to find out later down the line that I should’ve pushed for a repeat test/?medication/?referral now and regret not doing so.

Have you tried bbt ?

I really rate randox health
29 gbp and theyll do a female hormone check - - progsterone check etc

My advice would be next cycle - do randox health on your 7 dpo and 9 dpo
And take those results to NHS gp 4 chat

You do want it over 30

I did a cycle where
Ovulation - day 17 / 18
Then day 25 it was 30.600

If your ovulation is later than day 16 ish - have u been checked re pcos

@worldwidetravel2017 Thanks so much for your response! I tried tracking BBT a while ago, although found it a bit tricky as I work shifts and don’t wake up at the same time each morning but willing to give anything a try if it will help! I’ll take a look at Randox health too, or maybe chance going back to the GP and asking for them to repeat the test themselves. I ovulated on day 19/20 this month- ovulation has always been a bit later but my luteal phase has only been 11 days since the MMC, used to be at least 14 days prior to this so maybe my body is still working things out! I’ve not been checked for PCOS directly, I don’t have any symptoms (other than possibly the later ovulation), I’ve had a pelvic MRI and 4 or 5 transvaginal scans which didn’t show any issues apparently other than my ovaries being small.

@worldwidetravel2017 that’s really interesting about your different scan results? Do you mind me asking if you received any treatment?

I’ve requested a call from my GP to talk to them about repeating the test, but have Medichecks lined up in case they so no! Thanks again for responding ☺️
