Mirena coil

I got the coil placed in June last year, opted for Mirena coil as I already had very heavy periods so didn’t fancy the copper one. Bled for 8 weeks straight after instert, stopped for 2 weeks and then got my period which was extremely heavy and lasted 7-9 days. This kept going for nearly 7 months of no bleed 2 weeks and then bleed for 7-9 days, I had it checked for displacement and all was okay. After the 7 months it started to become a monthly period but again heavy and long. I had a conversation with my friend last month about how I felt I was starting to get my period more often again but I couldn’t remember dates etc as I had stopped tracking my periods. Anyway I had moaned to friends about how heavy my period was and how it was day 5 and I was having to wear both a tampon and pad and was changing them every 1-2 hours and I didn’t see it ending anytime soon. I just started my period there so looked back on the chat for when this was said and it was 3rd of April, and my period lasted another 4-5 days as it was an especially long and heavy period. I’ve just started my period AGAIN so just over 2 weeks ago I stopped and now I’ve started again. Is this something to be concerned about? When does this coil settle? I’ve been advised it’s up to a year for the coil to settle but I’m really just thinking I want to get this out. What other contraception can I try? I don’t want the pill as my life’s to hectic I’ll forget to take it and get pregnant again (already have 3 kids hence why my life’s hectic🤣), I’ve had the implant before and I bled the whole time I had it, and copper coil is out the question. Any help greatly appreciated

@mumof2g1rls I had this exact same problem. I have endometriosis and periods are horrific, so had the Mirena however bled heavily on and off for a year, I had mine taken out in the end because I couldn’t deal with it. I ended up not using any contraception as everything didn’t work for me but may work for you. Hopefully you find something because I know how exhausting heavy periods are. I have just decided to put up with the periods as I don’t like any of the side effects from contraception. X
