Private scan

I have been having bleeding at unusual times during my cycle accompanied by odd cramps and aches.
Had a scan through NHS which nothing came out of.
I am tempted to book a private scan that will have a more in-depth look at the reproductive side of things.

Just wondered anyone who has done this, if anything wasn't right was it then a fertility specialist you had to pay to see?

I paid for a private pelvic ultrasound when we were struggling to conceive. It was very in depth, they explained everything they saw and were even able to tell me when I was likely to ovulate based on what they saw. We got pregnant that cycle after a year of trying!

From what I remember they said if they found any problems they would be referring me back to my GP. Probably depends on the type of clinic you go to though, the one I went to was just ultrasounds so no doctors on site.

Thank you for your reply.

That's good to know. The one I will be booking is Ultrasound direct, they have clinics all over the UK.

Did you get the internal scan (transvaginal) or abdominal one?

Good to know how accurate and in depth it is.

Yes it was Ultrasound Direct I used too. I found them great. They actually gave me a free follow up scan as the sonographer wanted to make sure I actually ovulated so booked me in 2 weeks later to check.

I'm pretty sure it was a transvaginal scan. I've also been to the same place for private baby scans over the years so might be getting the details confused!
