ttc #3 for 3 years now 😭

Had a scan Tuesday and there was a dominant follicle 18mm . Been doing a lot of ovulation tests and it was high fertility at 7 pm wed (had been high since Tues am) and then at 10 pm wed it was ‘peak’

So my lh surge was somewhere between 7-10 pm on wed night does that mean that my ovulation would have been between Thursday 7 pm and this morning 7 am??

I had pinching pains on the side of the follicle at 8-830 pm last night.

Dtd Tues and last night - is that enough or should we dtd today or tomorrow as well ?

Hi OP, generally it is said that actual ovulation occurs in the 24 hours after you get a “peak”- if you are ovulating, because testing for LH isn’t enough. To actually confirm ovulation you’d also need to either check BBT or have bloods done.

But assuming all is fine and you are ovulating then ovulation is typically in the 24 hours after your peak test. So if peak test was Wednesday at say 10pm then ovulation would typically occur sometime between then and Thursday night.

The best thing to do is to have the sperm there ready to meet the egg, rather than wait for the egg to be released and then try to get the sperm there. That’s why lots of the typical methods like SMEP recommend a lot of sex in the run up to ovulation because sperm can live inside you for 5 days waiting for the egg so the more sex you have in advance of ovulation the better really.

edit to add- once ovulation has passed then you can continue to have sex but the egg has a 12-24 hr window. Hence why it’s better to have the sperm ready and waiting which has a 5 day window.

We had sex for the 4 days before ovulation, the day of ovulation, then skipped a day and had sex the following day for good luck- now 9 months pregnant x

Hopefully then Tuesday night will have meant there was sperm there waiting and last night might have caught the egg. I had a HSG last month and we were going to try for 3 more months then have IVF so I’m really hoping that I get lucky. I don’t always ovulate on cycles where a follicle is seen my progesterone test has always confirmed ovulation but a lot of months I just have small follicles and no ovulation (but still regular 28 day cycles ????? )
