I'm not actively trying.

Unprotected sex twice around predicted ovulation. My period is now 2 days late but I have all the symptoms of my period - bloated stomach, cramps, tiredness.

But, I've also been super emotional (even woke up from a dream crying for the first time ever!), my nipples have been painful for about two weeks now and I got really dizzy today for no reason.

I hadn't put any of it together until the dizziness today so will be buying a test tomorrow if I dont come on but has anyone had any similar experiences? Did it end up being an odd period or an early pregnancy?

I know 2 days isn't very long but I'm freaking myself out a little now!

The "cramps" seem different too. They're higher up in my stomach, closer to my ribs - not sure if this is all psychological now though!

Anyone had anything similar?

I had achy boobs, extreme tiredness and I had implantation bleeding I tested positive at 11 dpo.

I hope you get the result you want

Plumchumm · 12/04/2024 03:06

Could really be either. To me it seems like pregnancy, if you’ve had sore nipples for 2 weeks, the period should be here right now. Generally luteal phase isn’t longer than 14 days. I think the max is 16-17. So symptoms like breast pain that exceed that time are usually caused by pregnancy.

Peonyyyy · 12/04/2024 05:58

I’m feeling the same, as well as needing to pee at night. I think this is how it was when I got pregnant with my first, but struggling to remember! I also have gas which I only usually get when my period has arrived. I don’t usually get any of this in the lead up to my period

Jigsawa · 12/04/2024 08:13

Thanks all, I know there's no telling here.

The peeing at night thing has definitely been a problem too - didn't realise that could be a pregnancy thing this early though potentially.

Still nothing for me so I'm going to pick up a test today.

Thanks for the thoughts!

Good luck @Peonyyyy - are you hoping for a pregnancy?

OP posts:

@Jigsawa yes! First month trying though and we struggled last time and had mcs.

3 days to go until I’m due, thibk I got a faint line on an early detection test but could be an evap. I’ve only got one test now so going to wait until I’m late to use it!

Did you do a test today? :)

Jigsawa · 12/04/2024 16:59

Hi @imy I'm on my way home from work with two in my bag. Wondering whether to do one tonight or wait until tomorrow morning.

I hear its more accurate first thing?

One tonight and one in morning hehe

This may be the most likely!

I can't believe how expensive tests have gotten. I haven't done one since my early 20s about 10 years ago.

Defo recommend getting those cheap test strips from Amazon. They come in boxes of 30 and only £9 or something.

@Jigsawa I got a positive at 8DPO by holding my wee for a few hours and making sure it wasn't too diluted! I think FMU is the best just because it's when you tend to be the most dehydrated and therefore the hormone will be less diluted (may be wrong there!)

Ah okay that makes sense, thank you for explaining.

Given the time now, I'll probably try and wait until tomorrow. Been exhausted all day - this usually happens before I start my period so all this may be for nothing ...

While I wasn't actively trying, I'm surprised by how positive I'm thinking if it was to be a pregnancy. Total shock to the core that suggests even if this is a false alarm, maybe I need to be doing some thinking/chatting with DP!

Also, massive congrats on the positive test!

Thank you! My daughter is actually about to turn one now, but back on here because I am just coming off the pill to try for our second. Getting my head back in the game!! Let us know how the test goes tomorrow, hope it’s the outcome that you want 🙏

Twinkletwinklelil · 12/04/2024 21:56

Good chance it’s pregnancy but the symptoms are so similar to pms you just never know!
Hope you get the result you want! First pee in the morning is best🤞🏽

Jigsawa · 13/04/2024 06:50

Think there's a faint line? What do you think?

I knew I should've paid for the more expensive one with words!!

theres a line there @Jigsawa however it is very faint for being 2 days late. Is this the poundland test by any chance? I took one of these and it was horrible asmy lines were so faint. Good luck

Jigsawa · 13/04/2024 07:15

Thanks @Happybirthdaytotheground it was a cheap one from Superdrug.

I think I probably need to pay out for the more expensive ones to know one way or another - thought I was saving some money.

Today would be 28 days from my last period but I'm reliably a 25 day girl. Not sure if I'm getting ahead of myself testing now.

OP posts:
Jigsawa · 13/04/2024 07:25

Plus, if there is a line there, its super faint and this was first thing in the morning.

It doesn't look great does it?

Peonyyyy · 13/04/2024 07:42

theres nothing wrong with cheap pink dye tests - in my opinion the expensive ones are just branding. pink dye tests are very reliable and I have used waitrose own, boots and Sainsbury’s in my previous pregnancy and now we’re currently trying.

I think a faint line at this stage is fine, mine with my son was quite faint on the day my period was due. It may be that you ovulated late too? I would just wait a few days then test again, And maybe in a week’s time if you wanted to you could do a digital test which tells you the weeks?

Peonyyyy · 13/04/2024 07:44

If you’d like to try a different brand, I really love the waitrose and Sainsbury’s cheap pink dye ones, very reliable tests and I think they are probably the same spec.
