Difficulty conceiving second baby

So we have a 3yo we fell on the 2nd month of trying with him had no issues and are now trying for baby number 2 and having the opposite issue.
We started trying in December and fell on straight away, but miscarried in January at 7 weeks, then we left a month and stayed trying again, had no luck and then this month I've had a CP

I know it's still early days but I'm starting to worry there's a problem, just wondering if (as I'm sure there will be) others that have been through the same?

I know TTC feels like ages, but I wouldn't describe trying since December difficulty TTC. It's only four months which is still very short time in reality

Hi @Eatsleepbakerepeat. I’m in a similar position to you. We also have an almost 3yo and currently trying for our second baby. We conceived our first within 2 months too. We started ttc our second in July last year and fell pregnant in September but sadly miscarried at 9 weeks and haven’t managed to fall pregnant since. This will be our 5th month trying since our loss and I’m getting a little antsy that it’s taking longer since our loss.
Sorry I don’t have much advice but wanted you to know you’re not alone x

Its not so much a comment on the length of time but the miscarriage and CP in that time....

I'm so sorry that you are going through similar and for your loss, it's so difficult, especially after the first time being so "easy"
The CP this weekend has hit me hard and i feel a bit lost hopefully time will help
🤞 for you,

🤞 for you,

Yes! I was so naive to this with my first baby. Getting pregnant, pregnancy and birth was so textbook! Thank you. Sorry for your losses too. Time definitely does help, I do still find myself thinking about my loss sometimes even 5 months later.
sending your lots of luck and baby dust, I hope it happens for you soon x

my first was an unplanned pregnancy and I didn’t even realise until I was 6/7 weeks that I couldn’t remember when I last had a period and felt so rough I thought I must be pregnant or something very wrong with me

When TTC my second I had a loss at 6 weeks on cycle 4 and then another loss at 6 weeks on cycle 5 but I got pregnant again on cycle 6 (yep nothing until cycle 4 then 3 pregnancies in a row). I wasn’t worried about how long I had been TTC but was worried that the 2 losses in a row meant I couldn’t carry a viable pregnancy but my cycle 6 baby is now 7 months old.

I’m so sorry you’re going through these stresses and worries and hope you get your rainbow baby very soon 💕

This is the same as me, I don't think it's been a long Tim's trying but the losses are really concerning me

Just hoping and praying one sticks soon :(

Same here. We have a 3 yr old and started trying for our 2nd in January. After luckily conceiving very quickly with DD, I have a feeling no2 will take much longer. Missed my period this month but not pregnant and GP said they only see you after 3 missed periods as I don’t have worrying symptoms.
I wonder if I conceived so quickly with my first because there was just less stress in life (minus the covid pandemic!) and no risk of a toddler running in- the small window of ovulation seemed much longer!
hopefully we all get there in the end- sooner rather than later 🙂

Hi all

I'm on cycle 9 TTC number 2 after number 1 was conceived cycle 1! I've had some tests and everything seems ok... Who knows 🫣 I've stopped getting my hopes now as feels like it will never happen. Some months I use ovulation tests, others I haven't!

I think I just went into it naively after getting pregnant no drama with my first, this yimr has just taken it out of me already just going to try and see what thr next few months bring, for me it's not the time it's the losses it's hard

It's so weird TTC isn't it, there's no reason to why some months work and some don't! So hard :( 🤞 for you

I have a 4 year old and it took 2 months to conceive her; we started trying for a sibling July 2022 and it took 1.5 yrs to get pregnant again so, unfortunately, it's just the way things work out sadly 🙁 I completely stopped having a period for 5 months in that period of time and was told I was early menopause so I did set a time frame to eventually stop trying as I couldn't keep pressing in forever but don't lose hope 🩷 Try not to stress or worry or pur pressure on yourself, it's just taking time x

24evergreen · 08/04/2024 21:51

In a very similar position unfortunately :( My DS is nearly 3, I fell pregnant with him on the 2nd cycle. Started trying for second baby last July and fell pregnant straight away but ended in an early miscarriage. We have had some tests done which show signs of PCOS although my periods are like clockwork and I'm ovulating so not sure how much weight to attribute to that.

I think someone mentioned that there was probably a lot less stress when trying to conceive baby number 1 as this would have been during the pandemic - for us especially as we were both working from home and not looking after a toddler!
