How do you know when to give up?

We have children. So I know we’re so lucky and this is a totally different situation to a lot of people.

But… we’ve been trying for this baby for 14 months. It’s involved invasive tests, so much stress and, honestly, not much in the way of answers.

I think I’m on the verge of giving up and accepting we’re a lovely family as we are. Has anyone else been through this? How do you be ok with giving up?

We had no children.
When we started IVF we said that if after round 3 it didn’t work then we would stop there and then.

We've been going through fertility treatment for over 3 yrs and have had many cycles. Not ready to give up. You'll know when its right for you

We have been trying for 14months to have #2. We have DD who is 5. We have had all the tests and everything has come back within normal range. The main issue is my weight (BMI 34).

We decided to take a break this cycle and see how we feel at the end of it. Honestly it's been a relief not having so much pressure on ourselves and the awful disappointment at the end of the cycle when the tests are white and AF arrives. I feel like TTC has consumed my every thought for the last year and has done a number on my mental health.

We plan to start trying again next cycle and try until Christmas. Then I think we will know we have done all we can and it just wasn't meant to be. I always said an only child would be the worst thing (DH is an only child, I am one of four) but now we are grateful for even having one.

Only you can decide when you have had enough.
