Long periods, is this normal?

Hi,
Currently TTC baby no.2 but since the birth of my son in 2022 I've had odd periods. I tend to have 4+ days of brown blood in the run up to my heavy flow period which tends to last around 4/5 days, then back to 4+ days of brown blood again so that's pretty much a 2 week period. Before my first pregnancy I would simply just have 4/5 days of AF & that's it.

Is it common for childbirth to cause odd periods?
What can be the cause of the brown blood before and after period?

I did fall pregnant last cycle but unfortunately ended in a chemical.
