I have just started my very first round of letrozole, currently on day 3 of taking it.
we have been ttc for just short of 5 years, I have PCOS and my partner has low morphology, we have been given letrozole 5mg to try for 3 months before we decide if it is worth moving on to IVF

i’m just looking for people’s experience with letrozole, if you became pregnant taking it and if so how many rounds

Thanks!

My son was conceived first cycle of letrozole (5mg taken days 3-7)
When TTC baby number 2 I fell pregnant on my first cycle again (same letrozole protocol) but miscarried. Waited until my next period after miscarriage bleeding to start letrozole again and conceived and had a healthy baby girl.

I also have pcos and don’t ovulate regularly, no male factor for us though. Good luck 🤞

I have PCOS - DD1 conceived with letrozole on third cycle after 2yrs ish of ttc. First cycle i didnt ovulate so dosage was increased. Second cycle i ovulated but didn't fall pregnant. Third cycle (unmonitored) was the charm! I'd also been taking metformin for over a year (2000mg).

I was told i could do 3 cycles, then a review and potentially another 3 cycles before moving to IVF.

For DC2, no letrozole required and we had some male factor issues as well. I lost 10% of my body weight doing a v low carb diet and DH cut out drinking, lost some weight and took some male conception vitamins as well. Natural conception after 9months of ttc.

Good luck! 💐

@CrispAppleStrudels i have been taking metformin 2000mg too for over a year, I actually fell pregnant 1 month after starting the metformin and although we miscarried I felt so much hope that the metformin was what we needed and it would happen again quickly.

glad to see some positive stories, thank you!
im praying that the letrozole will work for us, we have never wanted anything as much as this and it can be such a lonely journey

Just discovered this thread and wondered how you’re getting on @Crazyhope ?

I am currently 8 months pregnant after being diagnosed with PCOS and low morphology for the husband (4% normal), so there is hope for you! We conceived on our 3rd cycle of Letrozole. First cycle on 2.5mg didn’t get me to ovulate, second cycle we went up to 5mg and I did ovulate but not pregnant and so it was third time lucky for us. I was told we could do 6 cycles of Letrozole, so I would persevere if you can! There is also the injection step before IVF, so you should ask about that too if you get to that stage. Do you know what your AMH levels are like by any chance?

Hope you’re ok - it can feel like a very long and lonely journey! x

@sl7uk thanks for your reply!
our first cycle on letrozole at 5mg has been cancelled due to producing too many follicles. I had 3 mature follicles on cd12 and another one that was much smaller.

we have to start again next month with a baseline scan on cd1 to make sure that the follicles have gone and that they aren’t actually cysts and to take 2.5mg next time. Although they did say there is still a risk of pregnancy this cycle… I feel daft holding onto that bit of hope that although we had to stop dtd earlier than we had planned it could still possibly have worked.

thank you for your story, I think I’m at the point of desperation and will keep trying anything I can. We can do up to 6 cycles too which is what we have decided to do before moving on to IVF

congratulations on your pregnancy! Xx

Hi everyone, just posting in case anyone can come back and calm me down a little 🙈
I’m 9/10 dpo today, even though my cycle was cancelled they said there is still a chance of pregnancy so I took a test mainly out of lack of self control
I did an easy at home test which had the faintest line which doesn’t seem to have any colour (I always use these and they are usually stark white) then took a wondfo and that came up faint but clearly pink, the photo doesn’t show the pink though
does anyone have any experience with these tests?
i did do another easy at home after holding for another few hours and that came up with a very very faint squinter of a line too
i’ll update again in a couple of days in case anyone is interested but I just needed to put it somewhere as I don’t want to tell my other half just yet and get his hopes up

edited to add I took the photos before the 5 min mark if that makes any difference

Letrozole experiences please 🙏🏼

When they say the cycle is cancelled ? Do they just tell you not to ttc or is it cancelled with another type of medication ?

Crazyhope · 21/04/2024 12:52

@Bluebellsinthesun they told us to stop ttc because of the risk of multiples, we did stop when they told us but we had already dtd the night before that and I had a positive opk the day before aswell so we were all aware there was still a chance of that makes sense
they just said they would change the plan for the next cycle by lowering doses and doing baseline scans to check for cysts

Hello. On day 3 of first cycle with Letrozole. Curious, did your clinics advise which days to BD after the trigger shot? X
