Hi all. I’ve got sinusitis and relying on olbas oil to try and make me feel slightly human. I’ve read that olbas oil is unsafe during pregnancy but wondering if anyone knows if it could affect implantation? I’m 6dpo and would hate to ruin my chances

Hi I am not sure whether it affects fertility or not.

What you could do is try steam inhalation, this requires no oils and is a really good way to relieve congestion. Basically boil water put it in a bowl and breath it in (or have a warm shower).

I have also tried sterimar nasal spray which is just salt water but it really clears the airways.

I really hope essential oils are OK for fertility/ pregnancy because I love them and use them all the time!

Thank you! I had tried steam inhalation a couple of days ago but didn’t feel any relief, the only thing that seems to be working is the olbas oil! I really hope it’s ok too!

This is a really useful website I was directed to by my midwife about medicines in pregnancy. While it's unethical to test on pregnant women it seems olbas oil should be ok in pregnancy so I can't see why it would be bad for conception. Unfortunately a lot of things in pregnancy you have to make your own judgement as NHS won't advise anything. After a lot of research I've decided to take my regular hayfever medicine this pregnancy when last time I took nothing and suffered horribly for months because NHS said nothing was 100% safe

@justanotherlaura thank you! It’s so difficult to believe what you read, that’s why I personally like to hear from experiences. Congratulations on your pregnancy!
