is this a chemical? :(

I had a v v faint bfp on a boots early detection on Thursday (11dpo). The next day (12dpo) I had a v faint positive on a clearblue early with fmu (1st pic).
Yesterday (13dpo) I tested with a boots test strip with smu and got a light but clear line (2nd pic). I had been worried about faint lines but these tests are less sensitive so I took this to be a good sign in terms of progression.
But this morning (14dpo) I took another clearblue early with smu and the line is still super faint (3rd pic). So now I’m really worried :( with my last pregnancy I had really clear lines by now, and this doesn’t seem much darker at all than 2 days ago

is this looking likely to be a chemical?

I know no one can tell me what’s going to happen for sure but just looking for some advice/a hand hold/a chat…thank you

thank you...I'm not so sure, this morning's test is really worrying me. I stupidly took another boots strip as well - my urine was pretty diluted and there was hardly a line visible, this could be down to the urine dilution but equally I don't know if I should have high enough levels of hcg that that shouldn't make that much of a difference...have really convinced myself that it's going to end badly now :(

Have you taken a digital? I would and then if it hasn't increased in the next few days I would get a hcg blood test in your gp. Basically they will do two blood tests 2 days apart to see if your hcg is rising

lavenderlilaclily · 31/03/2024 18:51

I haven’t taken a digital, do you mean the weeks one? I really can’t see me gp agreeing to do any blood tests…

I really thought I was out but then I took this this afternoon after about 2.5 hrs hold (it’s another boots strip, they’re 25miu) - I think it looks a bit darker than yesterday? But I don’t want to get my hopes up and the clear blue this morning really spooked me, and still not sure if it should be darker now at 14dpo

That looks good to me for 14dpo. Give it a few days and test again. I know it’s easy to become obsessed with line progression, but there’s so many factors that can give you slightly different colour lines.

lavenderlilaclily · 02/04/2024 07:22

I did another of the same test strips this morning with fmu and it’s the same if not a bit lighter - I’m really not feeling hopeful.

Also did a boots early detection test with a 2 hour hold and it’s basically negative - so I’m certain it’s over now and am just waiting for the bleeding to come. How long does this usually take??

Hi! Unfortunately, it's a waiting game - there can be many reasons for lines to look for different due to different brands of tests, different sensitivities, different dilutions, different times of day. Although it's very stressful and hard, while the line is there you are testing positive and line intensity doesn't mean that much.

However, chemical pregnancies can also look this way. I had a chemical but wasn't testing much so didn't see any line changes but started bleeding suddenly a week after my period is due. So hopefully in a week or so you will have an answer. Wishing you luck! Waiting to see is very hard.
