boots early tests - evap lines?

lavenderlilaclily · 27/03/2024 10:43

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone had experience of evap lines on the boots 5 days early test?

I took one this morning (am 10/11 DPO) - there was immediately a colourless indent line which then disappeared after about 1 min - then the test looked negative though near the end of the 5 min window there was a v v v v faint line visible (like, SUPER faint, but you know, I was looking hard). It was hard to say whether it had any pink in it or was grey. I'm testing as my boobs have been really sore and this isn't a PMS symptom for me, but is symptom I've had with my two prior pregnancies.

I know the answer is just to test in a couple of days and see, which is what I'll do, but I am just curious to whether evaps on these are a common thing, or whether anyone had something like this and went on to have a bfp (basically, to see how much hope I can reasonably have!).

This is why you don't look at it till the 5 min mark. Often the indent line can go darker whilst processing.

Step away from the tests for another 4/5 days and stop stressing yourself out.

lavenderlilaclily · 27/03/2024 10:54

The instructions say result after 3 min and don't read after 5 min though - so was just following those. The line stayed after 5 min fwiw.

I know that I won't get an answer here about whether or not I'm pregnant - only time will tell - but was just wondering about experiences of these particular tests. I used to uses FRERs when I was ttc a few years back but they're no longer available, and want to find one that's equally reliable. I've had a difficult time in the past with ttc and losses, so really want to avoid evaps, false positives and false hope, and I think that's reasonable..

I find them quite reliable!

Marie1990x · 27/03/2024 11:42

@lavenderlilaclily I always found them reliable until last month.

I had an indent at the same time frame when testing as you and definitely wasn’t pregnant.

you probably can’t even make out the indent here 😂 but just for reference this was mine.

hoping yours turns out to be a BFP!

@Marie1990x oh interesting! that looks quite similar to mine so I fear it might be an indent after all...

My negatives did exactly this on the Boots early ones. My AF is late (nearly a week) but I've done two of the Boots tests and both BFN. I just want AF to arrive now. Hope yours turns to a BNP! Have you been trying long?

Grace185 · 27/03/2024 13:37

Also I ordered some FRERs off amazon the other day as I can't find any in the shops!

lavenderlilaclily · 27/03/2024 14:00

@Grace185 oh that's so frustrating!! Have you used any other brands as well? That's a good idea about ordering the FRERs on amazon

No not long at all, this is our first cycle ttc this time round (third time ttc) - I'm not expecting a bfp first cycle but also don't like the false hope of a false positive!

How about you?x

OP posts:
Grace185 · 27/03/2024 19:28

This was the third cycle. We already have a 2 1/2 year old. It only took two cycles with him. I just have ni idea what's happening. When and if I have or will ovulate and just want AF to come

lavenderlilaclily · 27/03/2024 20:26

It’s really hard especially when you feel you’re doing all the right things!!
it took 6 cycles for our first (felt like forever) but unfortunately we lost him at 24 weeks. Took 2 cycles for our second who is now 2, no idea why faster that time round.
hoping you get your bfp soon xx

here’s a pic of my test this morning… I had to edit the contrast to make the line visible in the photo though (and it’s still hardly visible). I think it is an evap…

So sorry to hear about your son. So glad you have your 2yr old :)

I can see the hint of a line but can't tell you if it's a line or not. I dont think I'll be buying these tests again. Hopefully you'll get you BFP this cycle!

lavenderlilaclily · 28/03/2024 08:23

I did another of the same test this morning and had the same annoying line, came up within 5 min. I’m pretty certain it’s the indent - these tests are AWFUL

Hard to say @lavenderlilaclily is there colour to the line? I had a positive result like that on a test but unfortunately was a chemical.

Welshcake15 · 28/03/2024 11:46

It could just be that you're very early. I must say that I found these tests very reliable. When I wasn't pregnant they were very clearly stark white negative, and I only saw a line when I was pregnant. If you'd just had the one line come up I'd wonder if you were correct in saying that it could be an evap, but more than one evap on the same brand makes me think it's a real line. Whether you have a successful pregnancy or not is another thing, and part of the "problem" with very early testing and more accurate early tests is that we find out about pregnancies that don't make it which we wouldn't have even known existed a number or years ago.

What I'd advise is testing in two days to allow any hcg to rise, or waiting until you've you've missed the first day of your period.

dreammama · 28/03/2024 13:13

@lavenderlilaclily i would say you’re pregnant. I used these, I did one WAY too early and I swear I saw the tiniest line (you have to really zoom in), way fainter than your recent pic. Turns out I was right and have got strong positives on them now!

@lavenderlilaclily that looks a lot more like a BFP and more pink than your last! Fingers crossed for you 😊

lavenderlilaclily · 29/03/2024 08:30

So my rage at these tests was not justified - like the later posters have suggested, I do seem to be pregnant. I can’t really believe it! But I took a clearblue this morning and there was a definite line - light, but not a squinter at all. So I must just be very early…at least I hope that’s the case, I don’t want to get ahead of myself and will see again in 2 days or so if lines are getting darker but at least at this point in time I seem to be pregnant 😮so the boots test was correct and not an evap

Edited

Looks very much like my early positives on these tests! Good luck!

lavenderlilaclily · 29/03/2024 14:17

thanks - trying not to get my hopes up too much as these lines seem v faint. I'm only 12dpo I think so it might be ok but equally with my last pregnancy I did my first test at 12 dpo and had a strong line. so I'm not ruling a chemical out

I’ve done the boots one this morning and had your exact question. I think it’s too early for me at 11DPO and I have so many symptoms I’m so sure im pregnant but I also can’t read mine right. It looks totally negative until you hold it up to a light but then the line looks a bit unconvincing and I also feel like I’m making it up 😂 hope everything worked out for you xx

Frenchtoastie · 08/07/2024 11:55

What happened? Please update!!
I have these tests too and I wonder how accurate they afe

I’d also love an update from @lavenderlilaclily !

my test was totally negative. The line I could see was like, a wet patch rather than any line or colour.

curliegirlie · 09/07/2024 12:33

I think with these you are annoyingly able to see the indent as a white line as the moisture travels up the test for the first few minutes. It's horrible as so similar to an early squinter, but if the line is still there after 10 minutes or so it's more likely it's real.
