I have just come home from an AI insemination. The doc said the sperm count was good but motility particularly low. Now, last night my husband stayed up till nearly 2am, drank a whole bottle of wine and smoked god knows how many cigarettes. So a question: apart from the fact that his doing that was very irritating, can something done the night before actually affect the sperm? i keep reading anecdotal evidence that drinking and smoking won't help in general, and have given it up as a lost cause (also docs in france won't mention the subject), but also that sperm are formed 2 or 3 months in advance, so can't decide whether last night had any effect or not.

Gosh, that sounds so selfish and thoughtless to do that when you are obviously going through so much.
