BFP and DTD 4/5 days before ovulation?

Hello!

Has anyone had a BFP from having sex ONLY ONCE 4 or 5 days before ovulation?

I usually ovulate around CD14 but this month seems to be later. I’m on CD15 and still haven’t even had a positive OPK and BBT is still low. I’ve had EWCM and ovulation pain a few days this week.

So looks like ovulation day will probably be CD17 or possibly CD16 if I get a surge today.

We DTD on CD12 (or early morning of CD13) but that’s the only time in my fertile week we’re able to do it with schedules and being away from each other.

Am I crazy to think some lil swimmers from CD12 might still be hanging around on CD17?

I know sperm can live for up to 5 days but just wondered if anyone here had experienced a BFP when DTD this far ahead of ovulation? 💜🙂

Hi, it is possible. Might be a low percentage, I've read about 5 percent might survive for around 5 days. Just takes 1 of them to be healthy and strong to fertilised the egg. Good luck,

Thank you! That’s what I’ve read so guessed chances are pretty slim 😅

Hoping some people can come here to share their experiences! 🤞🤞

In case anyone is reading this in the future - I got pregnant this same cycle 😊

That means the lil swimmers hung around for 4-5 days before ovulation. So it is possible!!

Hello! Im in the same situation as you were… should have ovulated around CD14/15 but didn’t end up getting a positive OPK until CD18! So thrilled to read you are pregnant! That’s amazing! Did you continue doing OPKs and did you eventually find your peak? If so what day was it?

Hello! I’m so sorry that I missed this!

I had my peak that cycle on day 16 in the end, so looks like ovulation was on day 17. Sadly that pregnancy ended in a missed miscarriage at 6.5 weeks but late ovulation had nothing to do with that.

I'm pregnant again 1 cycle following my MMC and I ovulated on day 19.

I have no idea if this is helpful for you now, but hated that I hadn’t replied! Hope you’re doing okay 💜

Ah no worries! So sorry to read of your missed miscarriage at 6.5 weeks... was that picked up on an early scan or did you find out at a later scan? And if you don't mind me asking, how were you advised to manage it?

Equally, so pleased to hear you conceived quickly after! How are you doing?

I had a chemical pregnancy that month unfortunately. Got a positive on 14dpo (I waited patiently until then to do my first test!) then 2 days later bleeding started which felt like a normal period. And then of course a BFN after. Bit of a whirlwind! First month of trying, first time seeing a BFP and then very quickly over. More frustrating than anything else! I didn't find it too difficult on the emotions just because it felt like it was over before it even had sunk in. We also DTD only once that month so my mind certainly wasn't in the headspace of seeing a BFP. Thought it would be highly unlikely, especially first time.

We haven't tried again since just because we had some holiday plans that we just thought would be best to do uninterrupted by a potential first trimester but we are starting things off again after my period next week! Excited for sure... it's been a few months! Have been told chemicals are very common sadly and not to read into it too much. Fingers crossed it was just a one off x

@RosiePosie0812 I’m so sorry to hear about your chemical. It’s so tough having that bit of excitement and then it just vanishing. I’m glad to hear you coped okay though and think you definitely have a positive outlook which is great!

My MMC was picked up at 6.5 weeks when they said I looked like I was only about 5 weeks and that a miscarriage was very likely. I then had to wait for a whole 8 days to have it confirmed - to be totally honest it was probably the worst week of my life.

I had the option of waiting to miscarry naturally, a medical option where you take pics to induce a miscarriage, or the surgical option where you go under general anaesthetic and they do a D&C. I choose the surgical option - mainly because I wanted it over quickly. I also had a termination when I was 19 and I remember how sore those pills are - worst pain I’ve ever experienced!

Thank you! I can’t believe I’m pregnant again after just one period! I’m so pleasantly surprised. Last time was our first time trying with all the proper timing too. I’ve been doing okay. Quite anxious and trying to remember that this is a totally new pregnancy and that it doesn’t mean history will repeat itself.
