**TMI** Could I be 12 weeks without a BFP?

TW - TMI and long post alert

This is a bit of a long shot, but, we started ttc at Xmas and I am currently 15DPO, CD69 and tons of BFN's.

To give you all the full history, I had AF on 13th Dec which was normal (the cycle bfore this was 49 days and the the one before that 28 days) but then had a 2 day bleed on 1st Jan (9 days early). It was very very light and even when I did use tampons on one of the days, every time I changed it after 6 hours or more, there was hardly anything on it. Now I am normally a 5 day girl with about 3 days of heavy bleeding. But this one went from pink to brown, a tiny pit of red on the tampon but mainly brown and pink. As this was our first month ttc, I classed this a CD1.

I had EWCM on 11th Jan so thought I ovulated a day or so later. I started testing for pg at the end of Jan when I was due and nothing, all BFN. I wasn't using OPKs as i wanted to do my first cycle as natural as possible. So decided to start using them after I had a week of BFNs.

Throughout Jan, Feb and so far in March I have been having some weird on off cramps. I have being having weird headaches and weird bloating. I carried on as normal and got my peak on CD53. So, I'm supposedly on CD69, 15DPO, no sign of AF and another week of BFNs.

So, there are 3 scenarios in my head:

  1. I know this sounds ridiculously impossible but maybe I ovulated at Xmas and the small bleed was implantation and for some reason all the hpts haven't picked up hcg? I know im clutching at straws but could I be 12 weeks and not have a positive hpt?
  1. I could have just ovulated late this month and just be too early to test, but that doesn't explain all the other weird things that have been going on for the past few months.
  1. Or, I could just have not ovulated at all and my cycles a d symptoms have just all gone haywire since we started to ttc.

I mean, a girl I work with was 15 weeks when she found out. She has PCOS and is very slim. She had no symptoms but obviously was not testing as she didn't think she was ovulating.

Just shy of going to my GP to see what's going on and I don't know what to think. Does anyone have a stories or something similar happening?

If you got this far, sorry for rambling and thank you for reading x x ❤️

There’s no way you’d get to 12 weeks without a positive home pregnancy test no.

With regards to your ongoing symptoms, if you’re actively ttc have you been taking any vitamins/supplements for that? For example the seven seas or the pregnacare preconception ones? Things like that can throw your cycles off, they did for me, and I also think when you’re actively trying to conceive you are hyper aware of every single potential symptom, cramp, twinge, in a way that you otherwise wouldn’t so it can be easy to see things that aren’t there.

I took another pregnancy test when I had my 12 week scan to use for a pregnancy announcement pic and the positive was literally there within 20 seconds, I’m 8 months pregnant now and just took a test to see if it did still say positive and again it’s instantly positive. If you were pregnant a test would absolutely be telling you that by now x

I know I am definitely over thinking things and my thoughts are near on impossible. But yes, I am taking pregnacare pre-conception and have been since the new year.

How long were your cycles when you started taking the prenatal vits? Did they give you any weird symptoms?

Fingers crossed I have ovulated later than my opks showed and I am awaiting implantation/BFP.

I just wish I knew if I was pg or for my af turn up so I can move on to the next cycle.

Thanks for your reply. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy x x

When I started taking pregnacare preconception it did delay my ovulation and my periods were much lighter, the period before I conceived this baby was literally only 2 days and I’ve always been a 5-6 day girl! I know it’s so frustrating, fingers crossed you get some answers soon! Thank you x

Thank you @Mrsttcno1

I think if I don't see a bfp or af in another week I am going to see my gp. Baby dust to you x x

I had a silly 146 day cycle when TTC DD1 - I ended up being diagnosed with hypothyroidism (my TSH level was 6 when first tested, then 12 the following week). As soon as I was put on levothyroxine my cycle became sensible again and I had positive LH sticks/ovulation confirmed by BBT for the first time in months. DD1 was conceived 6 months later.

Thank you. I did have a 96 day cycle a year ago but the majority of the time they are OK. The cycles which are longer, I know that there could have been something to delay ovulation like being unwell, then the following month, I tend yo have a shorter cycle which kind of evens out the longer one.

Thank you for your insight x x
