Hi!

I’ve had low readings on easy@home OPKs all cycle (pic attached). I’m on CD13 and have had a couple days of EWCM.

This morning my easy@home test was still super low. BUT with the same pee I did a CB advanced OPK and I got a ‘high’ flashing result.

Does anyone know why one might be low and the other be high?! I’m not sure which to trust!

This is my first cycle using easy@home so I don’t have a baseline sadly.

I think the CB are more sensitive and can detect lower LH which is still enough to conceive

i also use CB and strips and my strips look the same

keep testing

I had a faint line on D13 but flashing smiley
by D15 and D16 the strips were much stronger and the CB was a solid smiley

@purplecolouroffunk hey there! How many months have you been tracking for? Do you have a rough idea based on your periods as to what day you might ovulate? EWCM is a good indicator ovulation is on the way..

ThingsLineUp · 07/03/2024 20:05

It's because they're measuring two different things. The flashing smiley on Clearblue is because it's detecting a rise in estrogen (that's what's causing your EWCM) whereas easy at home only measures luteinising hormone. When the Clearblue smiley is solid i.e. not flashing that's when clear blue has detected a big rise in luteinising hormone and it should match up with your easy at home strips.

purplecolouroffunk · 07/03/2024 20:06

Thank you @Yajay and @SKLM!

I did a bit more research and have realised that apparently the CBs test for estrogen as well as LH. Supposedly estrogen surges just before LH does and that’s why sometimes CB is flashing when E@H is low.

I’m trying to work out when I’ll ovulate this month. Sadly the only time we’re able to DTD this week was yesterday with being apart for most of the week. So trying to work out if I should keep the hope alive for this month or not.

@SKLM I’ve been properly tracking for 3 months now. I should be ovulating in the next couple of days but my 2 apps say 2 different days - 1 says ov on the 9th and other says the 11th. If the 9th we might be in with a shot but if the 11th then it seems unlikely!

Thank you! I was just reading about the CBs and estrogen so that’s really interesting to hear.

In your experience how long after the flashing smiley are you ovulating? Know everyone is different but just interested :)

This past month I had five mornings of flashing smileys. On that fifth day I tested again in the afternoon and that's when I got a solid smiley. I'd guess I ovulated the day after that as it's when my easy at home tests got quite dark. I'm not sure how typical that is though, as you say everyone's different.

EWCM is a good sign, keeps the sperm alive for a few days so it's ready and waiting when Little Ms. Egg finally decides she's ready to venture out 😂Hope that's soon for you! Good luck!!

SKLM · 07/03/2024 20:40

I got a solid smiley last month after 6 days of flashing smileys. For a while I was thinking the solid smiley wouldn't come, but it did.

Hi all! Just jumping on this thread for some advice…

I’m CD16 and had 3 flashing smilies in a row now. My cycles are between 28-31 days so feel like it’s a bit late to not have had my peak yet?

What’s the longest everyone’s had flashing smileys, and on what day did they get their static?

Overthinking it this month as it’s cycle 4 of TTC and I don’t know if I’m hitting the timings right x

Hi, it's quite possible you have a shorter luteal phase like 10-11 days so if your cycle was 31 days long for example you could be ovulating up to CD 20-21. If you've got flashing smileys, just keep going.

OP- When you're using the Premom app you need to make sure the test and control lines are properly lined up when you take the picture- your CD 8 pic hasnt been read properly as it's not lined up, possibly also CD 12.

SKLM · 08/03/2024 12:07

@TTC1990 hey there. This cycle might be a bit longer for you, perhaps you are ovulating later. I would keep persevering as the solid smiley should appear. I am 8 weeks pregnant at the mo, we used the clear blue opk the month we conceived. My cycles are between 31-33 days, my solid smiley didn't happen until day 19 which I thought was quite late, I was really suspicious! But we went with it and something must have worked :)

TTC1990 · 09/03/2024 06:39

@Girlfolk @SKLM that is really helpful. Thank you so much - I’ll keep testing! X

SKLM · 09/03/2024 08:18

@TTC1990 good luck and I hope you get your solid smiley soon! 😀

purplecolouroffunk · 09/03/2024 17:38

Thanks everyone!

Still no peak OPK this month which is strange. CD15 now and still only got a flashing CB and low easy@home.

I’m guessing that means I’ll ovulate probably CD17 so my CD12 DTD is very unlikely to have been enough 😔

Just wondered how you’re doing and whether you got your peak? I’m CD19 and absolutely zero signs of a peak…that bloody flashing smiley is still flashing at me every day! X

purplecolouroffunk · 11/03/2024 14:11

Hello @TTC1990!

I finally got my peak yesterday at CD16 so I think I’m ovulating today?! About 3 days later than I’m used to!

Ahh that’s annoying for you! When do you usually ovulate? I honestly thought it just wasn’t going to happen for me this month 😂

I’m hope that egg is on its way for you soon!

Ah glad you did! I usually ovulate CD14/15 so I have no clue what’s going on here. It’s been stressing me out! I’ve bought cheap ovulation sticks to do alongside the CB next month. Also an Apple Watch to track temp. Desperate so trying it all!!

purplecolouroffunk · 11/03/2024 19:00

@TTC1990 How strange!! Could it be an anovulatory cycle? I hear that happens every now and then!

I do the easy@home and CB sticks and I got my solid smiley on the same day as my easy@home peak this month.

How is your BBT chart looking?

OP posts:
TTC1990 · 11/03/2024 19:27

@purplecolouroffunk I’m worried that’s the case. However I read if you have regular cycles it’s less likely. I was on antibiotics so I wonder if that’s affected it?

I haven’t been consistent with BBT so that’s my aim next month. I have a new Apple Watch coming so it’ll be much easier to track!

I think that’s a really good idea to do both OPKS. I’m learning each month, so will be properly on it for April!

Pleased you finally got your peak - love seeing that solid smiley!!
