Low sperm motility and morphology

Hi there,

Hoping to hear some positive stories. My husband and I have been trying to conceive for 6 months (not very long yet I know). Both early thirties and healthy. I ovulate every month and no known issues on my end. However my husband had a SA two months back that indicated low morphology (only 1%) and low motility (27%). His count was high though at 156 million.

We eat very very healthy, take supplements, don't smoke or drink. We don't even drink coffee anymore. So we're taking a lot of positive steps and we will do a repeat SA next month after the 3 month mark.

Has anyone had any success getting pregnant naturally with those parameters and if so how long did it take you? Have you managed to improve parameters in 3 months?

Smile

We were recommended for my OH to take zinc, vitamin C, proxeed. He has also recently had an ultra sound which revealed a varicocele and waiting on referral to urologist so if you can get the ball rolling with the GP if your planning on using the NHS, good luck x

My husband had similar results and 1 week after the results came back, I found out I was pregnant! Took us 11 months.

My DP had the same but because of the high count they said it countered the low morphology and meant he had an average and acceptable sperm test
We went down as 'unexplained' infertility

We did have to do IVF for our daughter as it just wasn't working for us naturally. Everything there worked first time so we were really lucky in that sense and have three embryos in the freezer

My DP has similar results.
We have got pregnant naturally 3 times. One DC and 2x miscarriages.
We are now doing ICSI as we're really struggling to get pregnant again.

@Vim22 that's an excellent count. You can get the morphology up for sure. Our fertility consultant said it's the easiest to improve. I would recommend Proxeed and pine bark extract as supplements. Proxeed isn't cheap but it's science based and very effective. My partner had a much lower count, but 0% morphology. It took us 15 months but we got there. You should be able to too, just might take a bit longer. My daughter is a year and I've only had 2 cycles since delivery and I'm pregnant again (early days)... I know it's so hard because in the moment it feels like a lifetime, but keep going, communicate with one another, try to continue to live life whilst navigating this world of 2 weekly cycles. You're doing so many of the right things already, your BFP can't be far away!

Thanks so much! I guess when you're right in the middle of it it's hard to get perspective sometimes but things could be worse for sure.

If anyone else has any positive stories keep em coming :)

I think we will keep trying a few more months and book an appointment with a urologist should we still struggle at the one year mark Smile

Will try and update this post once I get my bfp in case anyone is watching in the future.

Good luck to everyone who is TTC Star

As the count is high , I wouldn't be concerned so much about the morphology. Thats what consultsant told us. 6 months is really not a long time at all.
We have poor morphology, borderline motility and count and managed to conceive naturally but miscarried. Due to age and me having pcos and tubal factor we moved to ivf.
At your stage, I wouldn't be that concerned just yet.

Thought I would come back and give an update to anyone with similar story/results looking for a little hope. I’m currently typing this message with my three week old baby girl fast asleep in my arms. I know TTC is so tough so hang in there ❤️
