Infertility - can endometriosis go?

Hi

I've had a lap & dye procedure yesterday, following which I was told that my endometriosis (which I had for years) has cleared. Absolutely GREAT but I'm a bit baffled as I was not expecting that.

History....endometriosis diagnosed 1998, treated with Zoladex (for 3 years on and off), then needed furthe lap and had endo burned away again in 2001, then combination pill continuously for 4 years, until we decided to try for bambinos 2 year ago.

After 12 months I was referred to the infertility clinic (given my history) and they did tests to check my tubes, check for ovulation etc. and then I was prescribed clomid (50mg) for 6 months, as I wasn't ovulating. - Oh and also the dye wasn't running through my left tube.

I had a lap and dye yesterday and was astonished to be told there was no endometriosis to remove and that my tubes are clear. They want to see me in clinic in 6 weeks!

So, advice please. The Cons also seemed surprised but I find it hard to believe. Can endometriosis clear up? I jolly well hope so!

Although there is no absolute cure for endometriosis I believe it can come and go.

I get it in the form of chocolate cysts but I don't have them all the time. Sometimes they've shrunk a bit on their own, sometimes I've had them removed and sometimes when I have a scan there aren't any.

I was also told by my consultant that if you do manage to get pregnant the symptoms very often disappear whilst you are pregnant.

So, sounds like it's shrunk. I thought that was no cure. Just surprised that it's kept clear for so long as I've been off treatment for 20 months now. Not complaining tho...
