Ovulation on CD30?!

Hi all, this is cycle 19 of TTC for us. I'm on a, what feels like impossibly long, waiting list to see a fertility consultant though I suspect I have PCOS based on all my symptoms.

I have been tracking my LH levels via OPKs this month after suspecting they'd be high all the time (I was partially correct, there are consistently two lines on the OPKs but there are definite darker surges though I know this isn't always a strong indication of ovulation). I had a surge, coupled with one sided cramps, ewcm and some very very light spotting (brown discharge) around CD21 (this is a fairly normal date for me as I have long cycles). Figured I was ovulating & dutifully did the deed.

I'm now on CD30. Yesterday and today I have had a substantial spike in my LH levels. I know this could indicate an impending period so not overly optimistic. However, I have now got ewcm , backache and one sided cramping. I am, to put it lightly, deeply confused and frankly a bit miffed.

Never had ewcm this late on in a cycle before.

It is possible to ovulate this late in a cycle? Or are my hormones just so messed up my body is falsely giving off ovulation-style symptoms?

Anyone else had this before? Thanks!

Have you taken a pregnancy test? I know that lh can pick up HCG.

I took a cheapie pregnancy test yesterday just for a laugh more than anything (got to get my kicks somehow!) and it was insultingly negative. Hence the confusion over this spike in levels + ovulation-esque symptoms.

Would like to just get my period and be done with it at this rate 😆

Ah ok, our bodies are complicated things! I hope you get your period soon.

I've not been diagnosed with PCOS but I do have irregular cycles (usually 32-40 days long). I'm currently 5 months pregnant and ovulated on day 39 (so it was an exceptionally long cycle even for me) so you can definitely ovulate on any day of your cycle (and successfully get pregnant).

I was using the Mira device to track my hormones so I know my ovulation day was correct.

Congratulations! Hope all's going well 😊

It's nice to hear of someone else with long cycles falling pregnant. I had a faint positive pregnancy test last September on CD36 and didn't test pregnant on a clear blue digital until CD41. Unfortunately it ended in miscarriage, but I suspect that must have been later ovulation too.

I am very impatient though so the prospect of another two weeks wait if I have only just ovulated is torture 😂

I have been toying with the idea of the Mira tracker but the price is putting me off. Might have to just bite the bullet at some point and order one.

This is my first cycle trying and I didn't ovulate until CD53 and I am currently in my TWW.

Maybe you didn't ovulate the first time around and you are now? Our bodies are a weird and wonderful thing x x

I have plenty to complain about with Mira as a company (slow delivery times, the expense etc) but as a product I highly recommend it. We had 2 early losses (chemical pregnancies) last year but it was because of the Mira that I was able to fall pregnant all three times, especially being so irregular. Thankfully this pregnancy is going beautifully so far.

Just an update (I know how frustrating it is when you're looking on other threads for info when you're in the same boat) - turns out I did indeed ovulate on CD30 and I got a positive pregnancy test this morning at 10dpo.

Fingers crossed this little bean decides to stick around.

thank you for updating!

I had a chemical pregnancy 4 weeks ago and am now just hitting my LH spike at today CD30! I think the miscarriage has messed my cycle up a bit - i got my surge last month at CD19 (32 day cycle normally). Looking like im in for the long haul this month...

Annoyingly, havent been doing the deed this week as i assumed i missed my surge somewhere 2 weeks ago and had sex back then!

Can i ask when you DTD around your CD30 surge? Worried i've missed the boat a little!

Sorry I missed this @GreenPickle. I also assumed I had missed the boat that month so it was totally spontaneous sex, which I assumed was just for fun! So that was on the Monday (CD 29) and then I hit the peak on the Tuesday (CD 30) or Wednesday (CD 31). It was entirely unplanned but worked out well. I'm currently just over 15 weeks and baby is doing wonderfully.

Hope all goes well for you

@CLazz92 oh big fat congrats! Yes! Also worried that we missed the boat. I got my peak CD30 and we did the deed CD30, 31 and 33! Now CD34 but unable to do it so just hoping for the best!

Thank you ❤️❤️

That sounds promising though if you caught it the day after! I didn't get a positive until around 9-10 days later, although I did feel 'off it' and really lethargic/sore boobs in the few days run up to it. I'll keep my fingers and toes crossed for you 🤞🏻
