This might be a very stupid question but post LH surge can you still conceive?

clear blue digital tests….

D13 flashing smiley face
D14 and D15 solid smiley face and OPK strips positive
D16 ‘O’ blank circle but OPK still strong

so on D16 or even D17 could I still conceive?

I’m probably being really dumb 😂😭

any advice would be fab, thank you x

You can conceive on literally any day of your cycle.

Urgh2302 · 03/03/2024 20:22

With CB digital, I thought you were supposed to test up until you get a solid smiley, and then that’s it for the cycle.

You could definitely still conceive on D16, 17 etc., but sperm has a longer lifespan than the egg, so it’s better to have the sperm there and waiting for the egg to make its appearance

Your surge indicates that ovulation is imminent but it could happen 12/24/36 hours after your surge, it doesn’t mean you’ve missed the window if you don’t have sex the day of. It really does depend on the person, I used to have the odd cycle where I’d have two surges! I assume it meant I didn’t release the egg the first time so they gave it another go!

probably not for me as I have stage 4 endo so it’s harder for some women and I will only get pregnant when I’m at my peak.

Thank you and yes about CB. It’s the first cycle post mc so I wanted to be really sure I was ovulating or at least had an LH surge

Thank you that’s super helpful!

I understand having as much sex as possible ttc is the obvious answer 👌

Well sorry I didn't know that, all the best.

You really can’t. You need to be ovulating which covers a roughly 5 day fertile period with a window of 12-48 hours when the egg drops.

I find the clear blue indicate ovulation a day early so I usually dtd until the strips have dropped lh

You can conceive on literally any day of your cycle.

This is false

ditalini · 03/03/2024 21:21

You can only conceive when you're ovulating and the egg doesn't last long, but bakewell is right in that all of the things that help to predict ovulation aren't 100% accurate.

I conceived ds2 after 4 years of trying at a point where I should have ovulated a week previously (going by temps/signs, not by sticks mind you).

I do wonder if we made things harder for ourselves in that we were experiencing ttc fatigue so were concentrating on sex around (supposed) ovulation and possibly were missing out quite often.

Duckgirl · 06/03/2024 22:18

@bakewellbride you can’t get pregnant at anytime in your cycle. You have a fertile window of time (around 4-6 days) as sperm CAN (but not always ) stay alive inside you for up to 5 days. Once your egg is released you get 12-24 hours before it’s no longer "alive" and able to be fertilised.
