4 days late!?

Hi everyone,

For the first time ever in my life I am 4 days late for my period. I have been testing and all negative.
The sensible part of me is telling me I'd have a positive test by now if I was pregnant but the hopeful part of me is telling me that I might have ovulated late (didn't track this month) and it's just a matter of time.

I have had such a strong feeling that I am pregnant this month so it's getting fustrating that I'm not testing + yet.

Has anyone been quite late for their period and tested negative but ended up being pregnant?

I am the exact same, 4 days late today and never late and negative tests. Also wondering if this a definite no or has anyone else had this then got a positive?

Hi. I was in the same boat last week. My period came 7 days late. Your body can play tricks on you when ttc. I think mine may have been due to taking evening primrose oil for first time last month so stopped that now. Xx

@Choc29 yes I have a horrible feeling that's probably what it is.
I have never missed a whole period before only been a day or 2 late at most.
Had such an overwhelming feeling that we had definitely done it this month.

Ah well - time will tell I suppose.

Im Jan i was late but didnt test positive until 3 days after my missed period. I unfortunately had a very early MC a few days later but tested positive for a few consecutive days so was definitely pregnant. I have wondered since though if there was any correlation between the late/low HCG rise and the MC

razzledazzle80 · 29/02/2024 19:56

@WishingUponARainbow same with you, keep me posted…. Maybe mine will come this weekend as was due last Sat/Sun…🤔

WishingUponARainbow · 29/02/2024 20:01

@SanityChecks hi, so sorry for your loss 😓 I have read that if implantation occurs after 12dpo (give or take) it rapidly reduces the quality of the embryo and you're at higher risk of losing it. That might have been what happened to you.

If that's the case then I am probably definitely screwed.

This happened to me when we first started ttc. I was a full week late (which never happened) and had loads of symptoms, sore boobs etc. I was convinced I was pregnant but wasn't. I think I wanted it so bad my body was playing tricks on me. Good luck x

I was late for my period in October and knew I was late as tracking ovulation but didn't test positive until about 2 -3 days after but they just never got darker !! I couldn't relax even though I felt pregnant. I started bleeding at what would've been about 5 weeks pregnant so very early miscarriage.
I remember getting really bad cramps the day my period was due and I think this must've been the embryo partially implanting.
If you've not tracked ovulation you could have ovulated late and either not showing on a test yet it or will have a later period.

strawberryswizzler · 29/02/2024 20:32

you can ovulate later than usual for any number of reasons. stress, being unwell, etc. it may be the case that you’re not pregnant, it may be the case that you’re actually something like 7dpo instead of 12dpo and actually are pregnant but not testing pos yet.

WishingUponARainbow · 29/02/2024 21:32

Thanks everyone for your replies.

I didn't track ovulation this month with tests but I roughly know when I ovulated from my CM. Hopefully it is just a case that I just ovulated a bit later and I'm still in with a chance 🍀

How are you getting on @razzledazzle80 ?
Currently 7 days late and still testing negative 🤯☹️
Absolutely no sign that AF is coming and I have never been this late before.

Hopefully you have some positive news?!

Hey @WishingUponARainbow same and still no sign off AF! I’ve just started ovulation tests again and treating it like a missed period cause just so getting me down and just feel I’m not pregnant. Went to the doc and she wasn’t bothered when I said period not came. Just keep trying! To mention too I’m 44 tomorrow and panicking about age and maybe early menopause as never missed a period either. All very strange…. Xx

WishingUponARainbow · 05/03/2024 22:08

@razzledazzle80 sorry to hear you're no further forward ☹️
I've started spotting this evening and having cramps so I can imagine AF will be in full force tomorrow...!
My lining has had an extra 9 days to really thicken up so I'm expecting an extremely heavy painful one this month😢
