Early scan help

Hi everyone, I’m currently 6 weeks +2 going off my last period. I went for an early scan today because I’ve had some spotting since Monday. They’ve said they can only see a sac measuring 5 weeks. I’ve got to go back in 10 days for another scan. Has this happened to anyone else? I did ovulate late (CD22) so don’t know if that could be the reason? Thank you

If you ovulated on cd22 you will be five weeks pregnant. LMP is based on ovulation on day 14. Seems fine to me!

As PP said, you're really only 5 weeks as you ovulated a week later than the 'textbook' 28 cycle which assumes ovulation on CD 14. Unfortunately you can only wait and see but fingers crossed.

Hi - sorry to hear you're going through this. What was your spotting like?

Im 5w5d. I had brown discharge yesterday and today bleed not heavily and still using same pad as this morning, but when i wipe its red stringy.

@Ems1992 @Rosesanddaisies1 thank you! I did think that but when I mentioned it at the scan they were just like we don’t know anything until the next scan. They wouldn’t really answer my questions but I understand it’s just a waiting game I guess!

@RMCx3 it started on Monday it was a bit stringy the first time I wiped then just turned pink. It’s still going but really light and pink/brown. I went to urgent care on Monday and they did some blood tests etc and booked me for todays scan. They said to only really worry if it gets worse e.g fresh red blood, enough to soak a pad, clotty

Thanks for your reply. I have an urgent appointment today at EPU but preparing myself for the worse as I have had 3 early losses already.

It is normal for the dates to be slightly behind than the LMP. It depends on ovaluation and when conception took place. Sending you positive vibes and love, and praying the positivity remains for you x

I went thinking I was 6 weeks but measured 5. I tracked ovulation and KNEW when I ovulated etc so I thought it was doomed.

Went back a week later and saw a HB but it wasn't measuring 6 weeks still, think a couple days before 6 weeks.

Went back another week later and all my dates matched up perfectly and was 8 weeks like I knew I should have been!! Now 28 weeks!

Early scan measurements don't take much to be off and often don't see a HB until 7 weeks!
